Welcome to our fourth annual Adult Summer Reading Program at the Seaford Public Library! We invite all adults (ages 18 and over) to participate. This program has been created to give adults some encouragement to use their library card and get ready to spend those hot summer days reading by the pool or at the beach! Adults will be able to register for the reading program ONLINE. To register and to access the book review form, please go to our website: www.seafordlibrary.org and click on the icon that says “Adult Summer Reading.” Once you do that, there will be two separate links for you to register and one to submit your book reviews online weekly. You are able to review as many books as you want per week. Each review submitted will automatically be entered towards the grand prizes and weekly prizes. You will also be able to register in-person and submit your books reviews at the Reference Desk. Registration will begin on Monday, June 28th and the last day to report will be Saturday, August 14th. 2021 Summer Reading Program The Summer Reading Program is an initiative that aims to promote reading and literacy to children, teens and adults. Each summer, Seaford Public Library offers programs and events connected to the Summer Reading theme, which this year is Tails and Tales! The theme is chosen by the Collaborative Summer Library Program and adopted by libraries across the country.
The Summer Reading celebration kicks off virtually Monday, June 28th at 10:15 am on Zoom, featuring BubbleDad. Discover the fun of science through the world of soap bubbles! Zoom link will be provided to participants through the library’s EventKeeper. No registration required!
When does Summer Reading start and end? Summer Reading starts Monday, June 28th and ends Friday, August 13th. That's seven whole weeks to track your reading and be entered into weekly raffles.
Who can participate? Babies thru Grade 5 can join the reading program.
How to register for Summer Reading Program? Come into the library on kick-off day, or any time after, and sign up online or at the children’s desk.

SUMMER READING VOLUNTEERING Seaford Public Library values the teens who volunteer for the Summer Reading Program. In light of all that is happening right now with COVID-19 there have been some difficult decisions to make regarding Summer Volunteers. Based on CDC guidelines, the difficult decision was made to cancel the library’s Summer Reading Volunteer Program for 2021. We hope that our wonderful volunteers stay safe and healthy. In the meantime, please take advantage of the many electronic resources available to you through our website, register for the online teen reading club and sign-up for summer reading virtual programs. In this live presentation, representatives from four of the five groups of vertebrates will be shown. We will share a frog, a snake, a turtle, an owl and a surprise mammal. At the heart, Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery, but it also celebrates hope and the enduring spirit of freedom.
