To tune in to the soundtrack for a video program being displayed on the overhead monitors, select Flight Information and press Moving Map on your personal video screen. Once the aircraft has reached its first cruising level, the entertainment system is switched on. You will now have a large choice of movies, audio entertainment and games. The movie choices include your favorites, ranging from dramas and comedies to nature and science programs. The audio choices offer a wide selection, from children's stories to chart-topping hits to classical music. For the young and young-at-heart, try the Games option. Use your personal handset and you'll be at your destination before you know it! Video on demand. We are improving our entertainment system even more by installing video and audio on demand. This means you can start the movie or audio channel of your choice, take a pause to stretch your legs and then pick up where you left off when you return to your seat. This system will be installed in all aircraft during 2007. If you get stuck, just touch the Help button on the Main Menu for on-screen assistance. Schmalenberger ABSTRACT Stylistic Evolution of Jazz Drummer Ed Blackwell: The Cultural Intersection of New Orleans and West Africa David J. Schmalenberger The two primary functions of a jazz drummer are to maintain a consistent pulse and to support the soloists within the musical group. Throughout the twentieth century, jazz drummers have found creative ways to fulfill or challenge these roles. In the case of Bebop, for example, pioneers Kenny Clarke and Max Roach forged a new drumming style in the 1940’s that was markedly more independent technically, as well as more lyrical in both time-keeping and soloing. The stylistic innovations of Clarke and Roach also helped foster a new attitude: the acceptance of drummers as thoughtful, sensitive musical artists. These developments paved the way for the next generation of jazz drummers, one that would further challenge conventional musical roles in the post-Hard Bop era. One of Max Roach’s most faithful disciples was the New Orleans-born drummer Edward Joseph “Boogie” Blackwell (1929-1992). Ed Blackwell’s playing style at the beginning of his career in the late 1940’s was predominantly influenced by Bebop and the drumming vocabulary of Max Roach.

    Rune Gustafssons arkiv Svenskt visarkiv April 2013 Leif Larsson INLEDNING Rune Gustafsson ( 1933 – 2012 ) hörde sedan början av 1950-talet till en av Sveriges allra främsta jazzmusiker. Han började sin karriär hos trumslagaren Nils-Bertil Dahlander i Göteborg men flyttade några år senare till Stockholm. Under nästan hela fortsatta 1950-talet spelade han där tillsammans med Putte Wickman. Rune träffade 1959 Arne Domnérus som han sedan samarbetade med i många olika sammanhang. Under ett par årtionden var Rune Gustafsson en av våra mest anlitade studiomusiker som genom sin mångsidighet och flexibilitet passade in i de flesta situationer. Rune Gustafsson har bakom sig en rad egna skivor, bl. a. ”Move” som belönades med Orkesterjournalens Gyllene Skiva. Han har även varit involverad i flera andra produktioner som tilldelats denna utmärkelse. Under åren har RG samarbetat med en rad av jazzens internationella storheter, såsom Benny Carter, George Russel, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz och Zoot Sims. Med den sistnämnde gjorde Rune två skivor, den sista ”In A Sentimental Mood” kom att bli Zoot Sims allra sista. Med sin mångsidighet har Rune också varit efterfrågad i många andra musikaliska sammanhang, både i Sverige och stora delar av världen, t.ex.     DATGANIAD I’R WASG DRAFFT Dydd Iau 3 Mehefin 2010 LLAWENYDD YN LLANDYBIE Anrhydeddu enillydd Tlws John a Ceridwen Hughes 2010 Heno, ar lwyfan pafiliwn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Urdd Gobaith Cymru yng Ngheredigion, bydd Tlws John a Ceridwen Hughes Urdd Gobaith Cymru 2010 yn cael ei gyflwyno i Jennifer Maloney o Landybie. Dyfernir y tlws yn flynyddol i unigolion sydd wedi gwneud cyfraniad sylweddol i ieuenctid Cymru ac fe’i noddir gan Gerallt a Dewi Hughes yn enw eu diweddar rieni a oedd yn flaengar iawn ym maes datblygiad ieuenctid. Enwebwyd Jennifer Maloney gan aelodau a rhieni Adran Penrhyd a Chyngor Tref Rhydaman oedd yn awyddus i ddangos eu diolchgarwch am lafur diflino a brwdfrydedd Jennifer yn arwain yr Adran ers 34 o flynyddoedd. Ers ffurfio’r Adran nôl yn 1976, mae cannoedd o blant wedi elwa o ddoniau Jennifer ym maes dawnsio gwerin, canu, llefaru, clocsio ac wrth gymryd rhan mewn caneuon actol. Mae Jennifer ei hun wedi bod yn cystadlu yn yr Urdd ers yn chwech oed ac mae ganddi dros dri chant o gwpanau a degau o darianau a medalau yn ei chartref yn Llandybie. Roedd Jennifer yn awyddus i gychwyn yr Adran gan mai Saesneg oedd iaith ei chartref nôl yn 1976, ac roedd hi am i’w phlant hi a phlant eraill yr ardal gael y cyfle i gymdeithasu trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg. Cafodd Jennifer wybod ei bod wedi ennill y Tlws mewn noson arbennig yn Rhydaman nôl ym mis Ebrill. Roedd dros 300 o bobl wedi dod yno i roi sypreis iddi. Meddai Jennifer: “Fe ges i gymaint o sioc pan ffeindies i mas mod i wedi ennill.
