We hope you enjoyed a smoke free, fun and restful summer spending time with family and friends. It continues to be a true privilege and honor to serve as the principal of such an exemplary and student-centered learning community. This summer many staff members have been attending specialized trainings to learn strategies to optimize students’ academic and social growth. This year we will continue to incorporate AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) strategies to work towards our goal of all students becoming college and career ready. We will provide rigorous instruction, engaging students by making learning joyful. We invite you to become active participants in our school community through volunteering, joining our PTO, and/or attending and supporting school events. Research clearly supports that when parents and guardians participate and are involved in their child’s education, there is a greater likelihood of academic success for the child. We encourage you to check our school webpage and your email to stay informed about event dates and times. Please plan to attend our Back to School Night on Tuesday, September 24th from 5:00- 6:30. The wonderful Hillside staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We are energized and committed to making this a fantastic school year. We look forward to another great year with new and familiar faces.
