2019-2020 “Harvard Elites in China” Program About Harvard Elites in China Harvard Elites in China Program which is held annually has been running for 3 years, benefiting 26,000 Chinese students. This program aims to help Chinese students enrich their global vision and establish global responsibilities. By participating this program, the Chinese students can also improve their English skills by interacting with topnotch Harvard Elites. Furthermore, this program is not just for the students in big cities in China. In fact, we also go to rural cities in China where the students who were born poor can also have the chance to broaden their views and have their approach to listen to the lectures from the Harvard Elites. We want to help all the students who have the limited education resources to succeed as much as possible. Meanwhile, performing speeches for the audience who don’t speak the same language fluently and don’t share the same culture background is a big Challenge. Harvard Elites who are enrolled in this program can get the best opportunity to practice public speaking experience under international background multiple times. Another big benefit for Harvard Elites is travelling experience. Exploring real China through visiting all different cities including cosmopolitan cities and remote small cities is meaningful for college students who want to further comprehend their deep insights of Chinese culture, Chinese education, and Chinese economy. The Harvard Elites who participate in this program generally need to perform activities including but not limited to as follows: ● Delivering speeches ● Planning and instructing workshop activities ● Model UN activities Generally, the participants will travel to 20 different schools and conduct 2 hours-long speeches, half-day long Model UN, or one day long workshop activities in each school. Day 4 Shanghai-Zhejiang Speech 2 schools 1 Day 5 Zhejiang Speech 2 schools Day 6 Zhejiang Speech 2 schools Day 7 Zhejiang Workshop 1 school Day 8 Zhejiang Model UN 2 schools Bullet Train from Zhejiang to Nanjing. Day 9 Zhejiang-Nanjing Speech 1-2 schools Bullet Train from Nanjing to Wuhan. Day 10 Nanjing-Wuhan Speech 2 schools Flight from Wuhan to Qingdao. Day 11 Wuhan-Qingdao Speech 1-2 schools Day 12 Qingdao Speech 2 schools Bullet Train from Qingdao to Tianjin. Day 13 Qingdao-Tianjin Speech 2 schools Bullet Train from Qingdao to Tianjin. Day 14 Tianjin-Beijing Travel Forbidden City The Great Wall Day 15 Beijing Travel Wangfujing CBD Day 16 Beijing-Boston Note: The cities lecturers will visit are subjected to change according to applications from Chinese schools. Qualifications: Be energetic & friendly with. Be good at public speaking and organizing workshop activities and Model UN activities (topics include personal education experience, youth leadership, public speaking skills, American culture, become a global citizen, volunteer work and charitable activities, etc.) Be interested in Chinese culture. Allowance: Round-trip flight 2 Meals and lodging included International travel insurance included $1000 per two weeks Recommendation letter if needed Availability: Two lecturers for March, September and October respectively. One lecturer for January and one for November. 3.
