Opportunities for Learning Through Experience 1. German-Japanese Language Exchange Language learning is an important aspect of the program. In order to enhance the formalised learning effects of classroom course work, practising the newly acquired skills is all-important. The program will, therefore, provide an opportunity for doing just that in contact with German students learning Japanese (“Sprachtandems”). Beyond the aspect of language training, a cultural exchange between Japanese and German students will be a beneficial side effect. 2. Social and cultural program for international students In addition to academic education, first-hand experience of German culture and society constitutes a vital part of the program. Therefore, the social and cultural program is designed to make the participants’ stay in Germany as informative and rich in experience as possible. The activities comprise various trips and excursions (incl. a one-week excursion to ) and social events. They are open to all international program students and thus provide a very good opportunity to interact with fellow students from all over the world. Each student will also be assigned a German student as a buddy to help them get along in Bonn and at the University during their first semester, especially during the initial weeks in Bonn.

3. Extracurricular activities University of Bonn Intensive German language, cultural immersion CS-L: 2017-18 There are numerous student activities at the University of Bonn, ranging from the academic orchestra to theater groups, dancing and art classes to debating societies.
