Professor Kenichi Ohno and Professor Izumi Ohno, from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS), have led the Dialogue since June 2009. Dr.Tedros Adhanom met with high level US delegation led by John Podesta, Counselor of President Obama .Their discussion focused on the upcoming Conference on Finance for Development which will be held in Addis Ababa.

The new report on labour migration statistics in Africa revealed that international migrants in the continent almost doubled in the decade from 13.3 million to 25.4 million international migrants in Africa, out of which 14.4 million are migrant workers. Majority of these migrant workers 24.9% are working in the agricultural sector. Dr Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, addressed on Wednesday (September 30) the MTN “Y’ello Connection Thought Leadership Roundtable” organized under the theme “Bridging the developmental gap: Africa’s digital acceleration path in the “new normal”. The high-level roundtable attended by leading industry experts and government officials aimed at discussing the impact and immediate steps needed to better leverage digital technologies and infrastructure under the “New Normal” with specific focus on the opportunities and challenges facing the Continent during and post-COVID-19 pandemic.

    INSCT MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA INITIATIVE INSTITUTE FOR NATIONAL SECURITY AND COUNTERTERRORISM Somalia Risk Assessment 2014 INSCT MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA INITIATIVE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY This report, developed from open-source information including congressional and federal reports, academic articles, news media accounts, and NGO papers— concerns one of the most developmentally deficient and war-torn countries in the world. The name “Somalia” and the phrase “failed state” unfortunately have become synonymous. Since the 1991 overthrow of dictator Said Barre and the resulting civil war, successive incarnations of a Somali government have time and again attempted to rise above the seemingly perpetual instability and begin exerting state control. Since 2012, when an internationally supported government was installed in Mogadishu (the US recognized the government in January 2013), Somalia has taken baby steps toward restoring stability and security in parts of the country. The presence of forces from neighboring counties, such as Kenya and Ethiopia (as part of an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM)), has brought a measure of stability to regions in the country’s south that were until recently controlled by non-state militias, FIGURE 1: Map of Somalia and Region (University of Texas). mainly the militant Islamic organization and Al-Qaeda affiliate Al-Shabaab. But despite recent AMISOM battlefield gains and encouraging signs of increasing government capacity, the central government still controls only a portion of Mogadishu and almost no other territory in the rest of the country. Somali security officials who responded to the attack say four militants entered the Sahafi Hotel and went to the roof, firing on people down below. They said the security forces eventually killed the assailants and rescued dozens of people from hotel rooms.     Inter-Governmental Finance Ministers Forum (IFMF) Communique Mogadishu, Somalia July 22nd, 2018 Inter-Governmental Finance Ministers Forum (IFMF) organized by the FGS Ministry of Finance held in Mogadishu from 21st to 22nd July 2018 to discuss mainly strengthening the Intergovernmental fiscal relationship between the Federal Government, the Federal Member States and the Banadir Regional Authority with the mutual respect and close cooperation. The forum is also to discuss and find a possible way of unifying the country’s Financial Institutions/system which eventually the forum endorsed the recommendations of the technical committee on the harmonization of the country's tax system. The meeting was chaired by the FGS Finance Minister Dr. Abdirahman Duale Beyle, attended by Finance Minister of South West state, Finance Minister of Galmudug, Finance Minister of Hirshabeele, Deputy Finance Minister of Jubbaland, Deputy Finance Minister of Puntland, State Minister of Finance south West state, and Deputy commissioner of Finance & Administration of Banadir Regional Authority. As the forum appreciated the ongoing work of fiscal harmonization has agreed the following items: 1) The forum should give all the necessary support to the Technical Committee so that the process of fiscal harmonization can be accelerated to achieved the desired objectives of the mission.; 2) To harmonize Inland Revenue policies and procedures under common National taxation law for the country by engaging and consulting with the Federal Member States; 3) The finance Ministers forum together with BRA will conduct an emergency meeting in August 2018 to further discuss the provisions contained in National tax law; 4) The implementation of the SOMA agreement was considered to have caused financial harm to the country, Therefore, It will need to review so as to comply with the available Jurisdiction, laws of the country and the Geneva Convention treaty in 1960.’ 5) Automation of Inland Revenue management and system 6) Harmonization of Customs process and chain of operation which are; a.
