Catalog Description: PHE 267 Basketball 1 credit – Two hours weekly; one-term

Develop a knowledge of the basic skills, strategies, and rules associated with the game of basketball. Apply the basic rules of the sport to engage in skill development activities and games while improving current level of physical fitness through a combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. Lab fee $10.

Course Outcomes: Upon completion of this class, student will be able to:

1. Demonstrate proficiency in the basic individual skills and strategies of basketball. 2. Apply the basic rules of the sport of basketball while engaging in skill development activities and games. 3. Demonstrate appropriate competitive etiquette and good sportsmanship while participating in one-on-one, three-on-three, and five-on-five competitions. 4. Improve physical conditioning through a combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercise. 5. Promote teamwork and team strategy through verbal and non-verbal communication. 6. Demonstrate the fundamental skills covered in class to instruct youth-level basketball audience.
