In a press statement on the occasion of the celebra- tion of the event which the world celebrates on March 3 of each year, Al-Ali said the Ministry of Health repre- sented by the Sheikh Salem Al-Ali Center for Speech and Hearing Therapy held a number of activities to raise Dr Tamim Al-Ali awareness. He added hearing impairment is one of the most common disabilities, as 1 in 5 people suf- fers from a hearing loss that may cause diffi cul- ties in communication, pointing out there are about 500 million people in the world who suffer from hearing impairment to various degrees, and the number is expected to reach 900 million in 2050. He emphasized that 60% of the causes of children’s hearing impairment can be prevented through timely and proper care. Dr. Al-Ali said the event was held under the slogan ‘Hearing Care for All’.
