Road Oweer Water Supply Reshun Powerhouse Charun Road River Shogore Union Council Boundary Chitral Flash Flood (Monsoon 2015) Glacial lake outburst, Cloud outburst and Flash floods hit different parts of District Chitral at midnight 16th July, 2015 Provincial Boundary causing extensive damages to houses, mosques, bridges, roads, irrigation and water channels. The communication infrastructure has also been severely affected. Fortunately, in all this devastation, human loss of life has been minimum with only two deaths reported so far. A sizeable portion of population has been cut off which necessitates immediate restoration of roads and bridges. The quantum of work requires heavy machinery at the disposal of district administration. District administration is in dire need of technical expertise and heavy machinery from National Highway Authority to augment the efforts and resources of GILGIT Road BALTISTAN Works & Services Department (C&W and PHE). C&W Department Chitral has no approved AOM&R contract agreement for CFY KHYBER Sheshi 2015-16, therefore the response to the emergency will be initiated with available machinery and staff with the help of AOM&R PAKHTUNKHWA Koh Contractors for the last year (2014-15), wherein authorization from KPPRA is required for immediate response to the emergency INDIAN satiation for deployment of additional resources. BALOCHISTAN District Administration has started restoration of cut off sites from limited available resources. PDMA has authorized Deputy Iran Commissioner to utilize the relief fund for relief activities. While, Revenue staff has been deputed to the sites for detailed India Drosh 2 assessments and verification of damages. Director NHA has also visited Chitral and NHA has cleared the main road for traffic. SINDH Chitral PDMA is continuously monitoring the situation and is in constant loop with all the stakeholders concern to restore public facilities in the affected areas.     Arom & at al ic in P l ic a n d t e s M ISSN: 2167-0412 Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Research Article Profile of the Medicinal and Economic Plants of Laspur Valley Chitral, Pakistan Naheeda Bibi* Department of Botany, Shaheed BB University, Sub-Campus Chitral, Pakistan ABSTRACT The inhabitants of Laspur valley of Chitral have always been used plant resources for medicine, human and other animals food, vegetable, housing, timber, condiment, facial mask, fuel, ornamental and other multi purposes, from many year ago. A total of 212 species belonging to 55 families including 2 gymnosperms families (4 species), 5 monocots families (24 species) as well as 48 dicots families (184 species) have been recorded from the research area during 2013-2014. Family Asteraceae contributed the greatest number of species (30), after that Fabaceae (20 species), Poaceae (15 species), Brassicaceae (14 species), Rosaceae (12 species), Apiaceae (9 species), Solanaceae, Ranunculaceae and Salicaceae (each with 7 species), Lamiaceae (6 species), Polygonaceae (5 species), Amaranthaceae and Malvaceae (each with 4 species) and Cupressaceae, Boraginaceae, Caryophyllaceae, Chenopodiaceae, Cucarbitaceae, Grossulariaceae, Cyperaceae and Alliaceae (each with 3 species). All the other families are represented by less than 3 species. Ethnobotanically 155 plants were used as fodder including gymnosperms with one species and angiosperms with 154 species (135 dicots and 19 monocots), medicinal 100 species including 2 species of gymnosperms and 98 species of angiosperms (89 dicots and 9 monocots), fire wood 47 species including 4 gymnosperms and 43 angiosperms, vegetables 36 species of angiosperms, ornamental 31 species among which gymnosperms have one species and 30 species in an angiosperms (27 dicots and 3 monocots), timber 17 species including one species of gymnosperms and 16 species of angiosperms, fruit 10 species of angiosperms, facial mask/facial cream 10 species (9 angiosperms and 1 gymnosperm).

Bodlah 2 1 Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Entomology, University of Poonch, 12350 Rawalakot, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan 2Department of Entomology, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, 46000 Rawalpindi, Pakistan Corresponding Author Email: [email protected] ABSTRACT This study conducted during 2015-2016 presents first systematic account of the aphids infesting therapeutic herbs used to cure human and veterinary ailments in the Poonch Division of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan. In total 20 aphid species, representing 12 genera, were found infesting 35 medicinal and aromatic plant species under 31 genera encompassing 19 families. Aphis gossypii with 17 host plant species was the most polyphagous species followed by Myzus persicae and Aphis fabae that infested 15 and 12 host plant species respectively. Twenty-two host plant species had multiple aphid species infestation. Sonchus asper was infested by eight aphid species and was followed by Tagetes minuta, Galinosoga perviflora and Chenopodium album that were infested by 7, 6 and 5 aphid species respectively. Asteraceae with 11 host plant species under 10 genera, carrying 13 aphid species under 8 genera was the most aphid- prone plant family. A preliminary systematic checklist of studied aphids and list of host plant species are provided. Key words: Aphids, Medicinal/Aromatic plants, checklist, Poonch, Kashmir, Pakistan.
