Cricket is an integral part of the community fabric and with club participation numbers declining over the past few years now is the right time to bring stakeholders in together and plan for the future. The Cricket in Goulburn project is designed to unite the community during the 2019 off season and to set the forward agenda for the next several seasons for both junior and senior cricket. The process has been designed to engage local stakeholders in open and evidence based discussions to then develop a strategy to unite and grow the game. The project is a joint CNSW, GDCA and GDJCA project and is being delivered to achieve our purpose for cricket to unite and inspire communities. SUNDAY, APRIL 3, 2016 SPORTS Explosive Windies face fearless England in finale KOLKATA: West Indies’ rag-tag army of short- format mercenaries will be hoping they have the weapons to overcome a fearless England in today’s World Twenty20 final as both sides target the honour of being the first to claim a second title in the tournament. For a group of players who nearly boycotted the event over a contractual dispute with their board, Darren Sammy and his troops have waltzed into the Kolkata final displaying all the Caribbean flair that has earned them global admiration. If Twenty20 cricket is essentially about power-hitting, no team does it better and more unabashedly than the West Indies. England have first-hand knowledge of that destructive potency, having been blown away by Chris Gayle’s 47-ball century in a Super 10 shellacking in Mumbai a fortnight ago. Revenge may be regarded as a dish best served cold but Eoin Morgan’s men would probably like nothing more than to exact it in the heat of a World Cup final. A task easier said than done against a West Indies outfit packed with swashbuckling players who ply their trade in lucrative Twenty20 KOLKATA: England’s cricket captain Eoin Morgan (C) with others play a game of foot- leagues around the globe. What makes the job ball during a training session at the Eden Gardens cricket stadium in Kolkata yeste- doubly difficult is that Sammy’s men have day. England play West Indies in the World T20 tournament final match today3 in proved in India that they are more than just a Kolkata.

  • The Dazzler 164 Finals Day Cheshire Women's
Ma THE Chester complete T20 double on Finals Day, seeing off Didsbury 1sts and Trinity … DAZZLER 164 Didsbury 2nds win development KO … Chester stay in contention for League title, but Appleton’s challenge ends … Wistaston wrap up division two … League Dinner tickets now on sale … Lancashire Thunder lose all three of their opening Super League games FINALS DAY Ch ester Boughton Hall hosted the triple-header Finals Day this year, and also took home the trophies in both finals that they were contesting. Many of the Chester players produced fine performances, but the star of the show was surely acting captain Kate Coppack, who reached the retirement score in both matches, and took a combined 5-15 in the eight overs she bowled during the day. Match 1 – Development Knockout Cup Final: Stockport Georgians 77-9 (20; Liv Bell 22, Zara Matthews 2-6, Ellen Gallimore 2-13, Tasneem Akram 2-17) Didsbury 2nd XI 80-3 (15.1; Laura Griffiths 27*) • Georgians may have won division three this year, but Didsbury’s seconds gained some revenge by triumphing in the knockout competition that is exclusively for teams in that division. Tasneem Akram struck twice early on, and Georgians were struggling on 11-3. Liv Bell led a recovery of sorts, but with Zara Matthews and others bowling well, the final total set the Manchester side less than four per over. Beth Garnett produced an excellent spell in the second innings, but Laura Griffiths led the way as the target was reached with almost five overs to spare. Match 2 – Senior Knockout Cup Final: Chester Boughton Hall Deemons 101-8 (20; Kate Coppack 25ret, Nadia Wheeler 21, Leesa Mellon 2-7, Millie Frost 2-8) Didsbury Swordettes 68-9 (20; Hannah Jones 34*, Kate Coppack 4-7, Dawn Prestidge 3-15, Ali Cutler 2-7) • Didsbury’s first team could not make it a double celebration for the club as an impressive display comfortably saw the Deemons to their seventh Knockout win in the 11 years the competition has been played.
