Brown, Advisor Between 1984 and 1991, heavy metal became one of the most publicly popular and commercially successful rock music subgenres. The focus of this dissertation is to explore the following research questions: How did the subculture of heavy metal music between 1984 and 1991 evolve and what meanings can be derived from this ongoing process? How did the contextual circumstances surrounding heavy metal music during this period impact the performative choices exhibited by artists, and from a position of retrospection, what lasting significance does this particular era of heavy metal merit today? A textual analysis of metal- related materials fostered the development of themes relating to the selective choices made and performances enacted by metal artists. These themes were then considered in terms of gender, sexuality, race, and age constructions as well as the ongoing negotiations of the metal artist within multiple performative realms. Occurring at the juncture of art and commerce, heavy metal music is a purposeful construction. Metal musicians made performative choices for serving particular aims, be it fame, wealth, or art. These same individuals worked within a greater system of influence. Metal bands were the contracted employees of record labels whose own corporate aims needed to be recognized. -

Its unique boundaries border Mexico, Arizona and California. Thriving along the banks is an invasive and dangerous plant called salt cedar. Its roots drink deeply, helping to lower the water table and adding large deposits of salt to the soil. As its roots and branches grow, its prolific and highly flammable branches threaten wetland ecosystems and create a significant fire hazard to neighboring communities when wildfires occur. It is also choking out the native willow, cottonwood, and mesquite trees the Cocopah people use for cultural and spiritual purposes. Central Valley The Central Valley lies between the Coast Mountain Ranges and the Sierra Nevada Mountain Ranges. It has two major river systems, the Sacramento and the San Joaquin. Much of it is flat, and looks like a broad, open plain. It forms the largest and most important farming area in California and produces a great variety of crops. -
Arcansiel - Swimming in the Sand
arcsits Arcansiel - Swimming In The Sand It has been ten years since Italian band Arcansiel released an album and that was Normality Of Perversion in 1994. 2004 sees the release of Swimming In The Sand, which is a sort of 'best of' compilation. I say 'sort of' because five of the six tracks here have appeared on past studio albums but, for this release, the band returned to the studio in 2003 to re-record the songs. With so much progressive rock to choose from these days, those of us with limited time (and finances) can not be expected to be familiar with everything out there so tend to stick with music from bands we know. A compilation such as this makes a lot of sense, giving those you have yet to hear the band a selection of the best tracks and for the existing fans of Arcansiel, a new version of these tracks. The band personnel has changed once again but original guitarist Gianni Opezzo is still there, Sandro Marinoni (tenor sax, flute) is back and Paolo Baltaro (vocals, bass, drums, keyboards, bagpipes) who joined the band for Normality, remains. Perhaps the neo prog tag fitted at the beginning of the band's career but it was polished neo prog, lacking the harshness of typical neo prog of the time. -

Casino Temporary Closures As of January 14, 2021
At this time, some Arizona casinos are temporarily closed. It is within the authority of each sovereign Tribal partner to determine appropriate measures, including reopen dates. The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) continues to share the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Arizona Department of Health Services to assist Tribal partners in making decisions regarding their response to COVID-19. ADG regulators are in contact with respective Tribal gaming offices and are providing technical assistance and guidance based on their decision to suspend casino operations as a precautionary measure. ADG will continue to be a resource and share information and expertise to all of its Arizona gaming industry partners as the situation evolves. International Boundary and Water Commission United States Section For immediate release July 11, 2018 USIBWC SELECTS 12 CITIZENS FORUM BOARD MEMBERS TO SERVE 2-YEAR TERM; PUBLIC MEETING SET FOR JULY 25 IN YUMA The United States Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC) has appointed 12 board members to serve on the Colorado River Citizens Forum (CRCF) Board. The first public meeting with the new board will take place Wednesday, July 25, 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the Yuma County Development Services, 2351 West 26th Street, Yuma, Arizona. The Colorado River Citizens Forum was established to facilitate the exchange of information between the USIBWC and the community about Commission projects and related activities in Yuma County, Arizona and Imperial County, California.
