The compound crystallizes in the space group P212121, and its molecular structure consists of a methacrylic ester of a ten-membered ring CCDC reference: 1530526 sesquiterpenoid annelated with an epoxide and a butyrolactone. The structure is stabilized by one intramolecular C—HÁÁÁO hydrogen bond. Chemical context Podanthus mitiqui (Lindl) [Asteraceae, Compositae] is an endemic plant of the Central Zone of Chile. It is an evergreen shrub that can reach up to two meters in height; its flowers are yellow or orange–yellow globose inflorescences.
