Aug – Oct 2017 Activities & Events Aug – Oct 2017 May–July 2017 Activities & Events Activities & Events Programme _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Dear Members In this late Summer/Autumn programme we keep a Summery feel to the Strolls programme, with gardens and tea gardens and cream teas featuring. We also visit a series of lost villages, among many other delights, and can meet, greet and congratulate our new Chairman as he leads us on a Stroll. There is a chance too to (re)-learn to play the game of Croquet, courtesy of Rother Valley Croquet Club at Duncton, for Walkers and Strollers combined. This is preceded by a shorter morning walk. By popular request, the days of the week are included again in the date listings, as most people found them helpful. Also by request, we are trying out including the postcodes of start points for satnav users. However they do need to be used with care - best to check them using your own system. Feedback as to their usefulness on the programme would be welcome. You'll see that September 16 - 23 is our Green Transport week when walks will all be accessible by public transport. Obviously not all transport links will suit everyone but we have tried to provide walks in a variety of areas. Maybe at least some of your route could be done using your own version of park 'n ride. Hopefully everyone who wants the Activities and Events programme has given the office their email address. As from this quarter, this is being sent out by email by default. If you know of anyone who is surprised to find they have not received a programme, could you ask them to get in touch with the office. For this programme several leaders have had to take a break for various health reasons. We wish them well and look forward to seeing them back in action. Thanks to all leaders who were able to respond to pleas to provide our usual spread of walks. Lots for us to enjoy - see you there! Rosemary Warren (Walks co-ordinator) Judy Robinson (Strolls co-ordinator) [email protected] [email protected] ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Notes for walkers & cyclists Ensure you have read the ‘Walks Guidance Notes’ on our website www.southdownssociety.org.uk (go to ‘Who we are’ then ‘Public documents’) or contact the South Downs Society office. Walks (white) are 9+ miles. All are circular unless stated otherwise Dogs, where permitted, must be under control. Owners must do as requested by the leader. No extendable leads please Make your own way to the meeting place and please consider the use of car sharing or public transport where possible Cyclists: Members are responsible for their own safety - helmets can help prevent a head injury if you fall from your bike. • SUSSEX MOTH GROUP NEWSLETTER Page 28 SUSSEX MOTH GROUP NEWSLETTER March 2009 Notice Regarding Elections at the AGM by Clare Jeffers on Behalf of the Committee
SUSSEX MOTH GROUP NEWSLETTER Page 28 SUSSEX MOTH GROUP NEWSLETTER March 2009 Notice regarding Elections at the AGM by Clare Jeffers on behalf of the committee At the indoor meeting last November the Sussex Moth Group committee talked about a proposal for formalising the election of committee members. The idea was that any committee member planning to stand down from their position should ideally make this known well in advance of the AGM, so that any upcoming 'vacancy' can be advertised to all our members in the Autumn news- letter and/or at the Winter indoor meeting. The committee supposed that advertising vacancies in this manner would give all members an equal opportunity to put themselves forward for a position on the committee and the committee proposed that, in the interests of fairness, elections would then be carried out by secret ballot - either by placing ballot papers in a box at the AGM, or by B l 'postal vote' in sealed envelope to the secretary. As it happens, our current Chairman, Sam Bayley, o x w announced at that meeting his intention to stand down at the next AGM and this fact was made o r t known to all members through the distribution of minutes from that meeting; any members willing h S to take on the position of Chairman were invited to put themselves forward. n o u t b The situation we find ourselves in now is that only one member, Steve Teale, has put themselves y G r forward for the Chairman's position and no one has expressed an interest in taking over any of the a e other positions on the committee; it therefore seems that the committee's original proposal to m e elect the officers of the committee by ballot is impractical.

  • Annex SCHEMES to BE PROGRESSED IF DEVELOPER FUNDING IS SECURED
Annex SCHEMES TO BE PROGRESSED IF DEVELOPER FUNDING IS SECURED March 2009 Background This document is called “Schemes to be progressed if developer funding is secured” and is also known as the “Blue Book”. In line with latest national guidance (see below), County and District Councils have developed a structured approach to the identification of transport needs related to development proposals. This aims, in particular, to improve the link between meeting the needs of development and the aims of the Local Transport Plan. The County Council’s Works Programme and Forward Programme are produced annually to list the highways and transport schemes to be progressed with the funds available. This year, the Forward Programme has been extended to include schemes that have been identified, in liaison with the Local Planning Authorities, as meeting LTP objectives but that cannot be progressed within available funding. Developer contributions will be sought towards these schemes, where they are seen to meet the needs of development proposals.
