  • BASEBALL RECORD BOOK Rabe Rights the Ship
BASEBALL RECORD BOOK Rabe Rights The Ship The Quincy University baseball program has seen immediate success since the hiring of head coach Josh Rabe to take over the baseball program in 2011. In his first season, Rabe led the Hawks to the first GLVC championship since he was a player at QU in 2000. The former Major Leaguer has turned the program into a national power in his eight season as head coach. Rabe has led the Hawks to the GLVC tournament in each of his eight seasons at the helm. The Hawks have played in five GLVC tournamnet championship games and appeared in five NCAA Midwest Regionals. QU has hosted the NCAA Regional in both 2015 and 2016. Rabe led the Hawks to the first NCAA Division II World Series appearence in school history during the 2017 season. Despite dropping the third game of the regional, the Hawks team responded by winning three straight elimination games to advance to the NCAA World Series. Since becoming the Hawks head coach, Rabe has won 277 games and trails his former head coach Pat Atwel for most wins in program history. Atwell won 288 games in 10 years as head coach of QU. Rabe has a career .629 winning percentage which is the best in program history. Rabe returned to Quincy after a Major League career with the Min- nesota Twins. Rabe was a two-time All-American in his time at QU and became the highest draft pick in program history in 2000 when he was selected in the 11th round of the MLB Draft.
