Thank You from the Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Lord: I’m overwhelmed by the generosity of the people of this parish. Thank you to all of you who have sent me cards, gifts, and food for Christmas. Your gifts are truly appreciated. I hope to send “Thank You” notes to all of you in the near future, but in case I forget to send you one, I want you to know that I am grateful for all your support. Please keep me and the parish in your prayers, as we continue to deal with the pandemic, and other transitions that are occurring in our parish, in our church, and in our country. All For the Glory of God, Fr. Harris St. Anne Parish Website-Help Needed! We are looking for volunteers to help maintain the parish website. To volunteer and learn what would be involved, please contact Steve at [email protected] or 309-230-7988. St. Anne Mass Live Streaming We now have the technical ability to live stream every Mass at St. Anne Parish. However, we need people to operate the Live Streaming. It is operated using a small tablet by a person seated anywhere in the church. To volunteer and learn how, contact Steve at [email protected] or 309-230-7988. Annual Diocesan Appeal (ADA) The 2020 Annual Diocesan Appeal is doing well. To date, we have received 134 pledges totaling $37,424.00 towards our goal of $45,876.00. But we need all of you to contribute. If you have not yet made a gift to the ADA, we invite you to do so today. There are pledge cards at each entrance. Every dollar raised to make our goal supports important diocesan ministries, and every dollar raised over our goal will be kept in the parish. To those who have contributed, we are most grateful. Rosary Broken? Is your favorite rosary broken? Is that special rosary from your childhood missing beads? Deacon Jim can fix that rosary for you. Just put the rosary in a plastic bag with your name and phone number in it and place it in the box that will be in the vesti- bule of the church. You will be called when it will be fixed. Thank you and keep using those rosaries. Card Ministry Do you have a family member, neighbor or friend who can no longer attend Mass at St. Anne? We would like these people to know, that regardless of the reason, they are still a member of this community. We have a card ministry where these people will receive a card from the parish telling them that we are praying for them and they are not forgotten. This is not a solicita- tion for money but one of prayer and support. If you know of anyone who would like to receive a card, please put a note with the person’s name and address in the collection basket or call Michele at the rectory office. Please ask the person first so they will know that a card from the Church will be coming. All names and addresses will be kept confidential. We pray for them and ask them to pray for us. Thank You. Prayer Shawls Since so many of us have had extra time on our hands, our knitters and crocheters have been busy praying and making prayer shawls. If you know of anyone who is recovering from an illness, grieving the loss of a loved one or just is isolated by this vi- rus and needs to know that someone cares and are praying for them, a prayer shawl may be a comfort. If you would like a prayer shawl for them, please call Corinne at 309-738-3664. Leave a message if the call isn’t answered and I will call you back. We can make arrangements of a drop off point so all will be safe. Thank you and keep praying. Warning about risk assumed by parishioners: While our parish staff will attempt to take appropriate precautions consistent with the advice of public health authorities, parishioners and guests should understand that they assume the risk of contracting COVID-19 anytime they enter a public space since such precautions so not eliminate the risk of infection. Those who are sick or who show signs of illness should not come to church. Those who are in the high-risk population or who are vulnerable should exercise prudence by remaining as safe as possible. The faithful continue to be dispensed from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass. When in doubt, the ill and elderly should continue to remain at home. End of Year Statements Now that all contributions for 2020 have been entered, if you would like to receive a statement of contributions for 2020, please put your name, mailing address or email address if you would prefer to receive it via email and envelope number be- low and drop it in the collection basket. A statement will be prepared and sent to you. Thank you!

John Lancaster Spalding Scholarship Fund Protocols and Procedures for 2021-2022 A family applying for Spalding Scholarship assistance must be an active member in good standing of a parish in the Catholic Diocese of Peoria. The student(s) for whom the aid is being sought must be enrolled in good standing (or seeking to be en- rolled) in grades K through 12 in a Catholic school located in the Diocese of Peoria. All scholarship assistance will be based on a family’s financial need objectively assessed. The diocese will use FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Services to determine finan- cial need. All scholarship assistance will also be dependent upon the recommendation of the pastor that the family is an active member of the parish in good standing. If a student changes schools during a school year, tuition assistance grants will follow the student as long as the student is enrolled in and in good standing in a Catholic school in the Diocese of Peoria and the fami- ly is a member in good standing of a parish in the Diocese of Peoria. All awards are for one school year only. A family must ap- ply for Spalding Scholarship assistance each school year. The number of grants and the amount of each grant for the school year will be dependent upon the funds available and the size and need of the applicant pool. Payment of Spalding Scholarship Grants will be made twice a year directly to the Catholic school a student attends. These grants will be applied to the family’s tuition obligation. It is anticipated that tuition assistance grants will be announced by the end of June 2021. If the student re- ceives an Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship for full or partial tuition for 2021-2022, (qualifications and application information can be found at www.empowerillinois.org), they are ineligible to receive a Spalding Scholarship, and any Spalding award pre- viously granted for 2021-2022 will be rescinded. Families interested in applying for tuition assistance from the Spalding Scholarship Fund must complete an online FACTS Grant & Aid Application at online.factsmgt.com/aid. The application and required supporting tax documents must be received online by FACTS by the application deadline date of April 30, 2021. The FACTS application, payment of the application fee, and any required supporting documents are to be transmitted online to FACTS according to their directions. Families must also request the pastor submit a recommendation to the Office of Catholic Schools verifying good standing in the parish. The application process is complete only when the pastor’s recommendation has been submitted to the Office of Catholic Schools and when a completed parent financial aid application, required support- ing documents, and the application fee have been uploaded and submitted to FACTS. Only completed applications, which in- clude supporting documents, submitted on or before the April 30 deadline will be considered when Spalding assistance awards are determined. A checklist of all steps to complete when submitting an application for a Spalding Scholarship is avail- able at www.cdop.org, under Catholic Education and then under Financial Assistance. Scroll to the bottom of the page and se- lect the link to the forms. Donors who give to Empower Illinois receive a 75% tax credit for the amount of their gift, up to $1 million. In addi- tion, any portion of the tax credit may be carried forward for up to five years. Before reserving your tax credit, you must first establish an account via ytax.illinoi.gov to request your letter ID. It may take up to 10 days to receive your letter ID. After re- ceiving your letter ID, you will activate your account on mytax.illinois.gov. Then you will reserve your tax credit. If this is your first time logging into your account after creating it, you will need to enter the Activation Code you received from the Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) after your account was created. You must donate the amount reserved to the SGO of your choice within 60 days or no tax credit will be awarded. After donating, your will receive a certificate of receipt from the Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) and IDOR will be notified that your donation was made.
