Tonight, we will have our Welcome Dinner at the hotel. (B, D) Day 2: Sun, May 31, 2020 Today we will have a guided tour of the beautiful city of Vienna, including Schönbrunn Palace. (B) Day 3: Mon, June 1, 2020 (Opera) Breakfast at our hotel and day at leisure to explore all that Vienna has to offer. Tonight, we will go to the Vienna State Opera to enjoy Mozart’s opera “The Marriage of Figaro”. (B) Day 4: Tues, June 2, 2020 Breakfast at hotel. Day at leisure to enjoy the sights and sounds of Vienna. (B) Day 5: Wed, June 3, 2020 (Orchestra) Breakfast at hotel. This evening we will be going to the Musikverein for Beethoven Symphonies 6 & 7, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic, Andris Nelson conducts. (B) Day 6: Thurs, June 4, 2020 (Opera) Breakfast at hotel and we will have a farewell luncheon on our last day in Vienna. This evening we will be going to the Vienna State Opera for the performance of Lucia di Lammermoor – Donizetti. (B, L) Day 7: Fri, June 5, 2020 After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for Salzburg. Along the way, we will take a boat trip on the Blue Danube from Krems to Durnstein. We will also tour Melk Abbey. Later in the afternoon we will arrive in Salzburg where we will stay at the historic Goldener Hirsch Hotel situated in the Old Town section of Salzburg. (B, L) Day 8: Sat, June 6, 2020 Breakfast at the hotel followed by a tour of the delightful city of Salzburg. (B) Day 9: Sun, June 7, 2020 (Concert) Free day in Salzburg to spend time in the city or take a tour to “Eagle’s Nest or the “Sound of Music Tour”. Tonight, we will have a farewell dinner and Mozart concert in the baroque hall St. Peter. Carl first joined WFMT in 1986 and had been the host of WFMT’s morning program since 1996. Carl presents pre-concert lectures for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Music of the Baroque. He also performs as narrator with the Chicago Pro Musica and hosts concerts for numerous community orchestras and bands. He has been the host for the nationally syndicated broadcast concerts of the Montreal Symphony Orchestra on the WFMT Fine Arts Network, and he hosts the National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis each spring. An alumnus of the University of Michigan School of Music, Carl has been the “stadium voice” of the University of Michigan Marching Band for 44 seasons–his voice being heard on national telecasts of sixteen Rose Bowl games and numerous other bowl games. In 2006 he assumed additional duties as the game announcer at Michigan Stadium. An accomplished conductor and singer, Carl has thirty years of experience as a church music director. Currently he sings in the choir of Grace Lutheran Church in River Forest, IL. He has also sung the national anthem for professional and collegiate sporting events at Wrigley Field, Comiskey Park, Tiger Stadium, the Pontiac Silverdome, and the University of Michigan’s Crisler Arena. Eccleston 2016 i Abstract: Post-World War II in Canada was a time during which major organizations were born to foster the need for a sense of Canadian cultural identity. The Canada Council for the Arts, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and the Canadian Music Centre led the initiative for commissioning, producing, and disseminating this Canadian musical legacy. Yet despite the wealth of repertoire created since then, the contemporary music of Canada is largely unknown both within and outside its borders. This annotated bibliography serves as a concise summary and evaluative resource into the breadth of concertos and solo works written for oboe, oboe d’amore, and English horn, accompanied by an ensemble. The document examines selected pieces of significance from the mid-twentieth century to present day. Entries discuss style and difficulty using the modified rating system developed by oboist Dr. Sarah J. Hamilton. In addition, details of duration, instrumentation, premiere/performance history, including dedications, commissions, program notes, reviews, publisher information and recordings are included wherever possible.

Ana Božičević Born in Zagreb, Croatia, Božičević emigrated to New York City in 1997 and studied at Hunter College. She is the author of several chapbooks, including Morning News (2006) and Document (2007). Her first book-length collection, Stars of the Night Commute (2009) was Lambda Literary Award finalist, and her second book Rise in the Fall (2013) won a Lambda Literary Award. Travelers and messengers figure in Božičević’s dreamlike poems of shifting diction, narrative, and settings. Chris Tonelli, reviewing the chapbook Document, commented that “by expertly combining the rhetoric of narrative with the agility of surrealism, Božičević creates a landscape, and a cast of characters within that landscape, for which flux is the only stable thing.” Božičević has worked for the PEN American Center and the Center for the Humanities of the Graduate Center, CUNY.     Network Notebook Summer Quarter 2019 (July - September) A World of Services for Our Affiliates We make great radio as affordable as possible: • Our production costs are primarily covered by our arts partners and outside funding, not from our affiliates, marketing or sales. • Affiliation fees only apply when a station takes three or more programs. The actual affiliation fee is based on a station’s market share. Affiliates are not charged fees for the selection of WFMT Radio Network programs on the Public Radio Exchange (PRX). • The cost of our Beethoven and Jazz Network overnight services is based on a sliding scale, depending on the number of hours you use (the more hours you use, the lower the hourly rate). We also offer reduced Beethoven and Jazz Network rates for HD broadcast. Through PRX, you can schedule any hour of the Beethoven or Jazz Network throughout the day and the files are delivered a week in advance for maximum flexibility. We provide highly skilled technical support: • Programs are available through the Public Radio Exchange (PRX). PRX delivers files to you days in advance so you can schedule them for broadcast at your convenience. We provide technical support in conjunction with PRX to answer all your distribution questions. In cases of emergency or for use as an alternate distribution platform, we also offer an FTP (File Transfer Protocol), which is kept up to date with all of our series and specials. We keep you informed about our shows and help you promote them to your listeners: • Affiliates receive our quarterly Network Notebook with all our program offerings, and our regular online WFMT Radio Network Newsletter, with news updates, previews of upcoming shows and more.
