Dear members and supporters of Y4Y Quebec, Here are some highlights from the last few weeks at Y4Y Quebec! BISHOP’S FORUM The second annual Bishop’s Forum took place in Lennoxville from August 12-17. Y4Y President Malcolm Lewis-Richmond attended the Bishop’s Forum with Secretary Hayley Campbell, volunteer Eveshore Omogbai and Outaouais Team Leader Holly Campbell. It was an enriching experience for all, where many links were created between participants, and the sense of community was strengthened. Congratulations to the organizers! We look to being part of the Bishop’s Forum again next year! ELECTION DEBATE An election debate took place on August 15 in Lennoxville as part of the Bishop’s Forum. Pictured here are Malcolm Lewis-Richmond (Y4Y President) and Eveshore Omogbai (volunteer) with Marwah Rizqy, candidate for the Quebec Liberal Party in Saint-Laurent. When discussing the candidate’s platform, some highlights were the commitments to fight to end unpaid internships, to push for free tuition in postsecondary institutions, and to reduce inequalities for immigrant and visible minority communities. MEETING WITH QUEBEC 4-H SHAWVILLE CLUB Y4Y Outaouais Team Leader Holly Campbell organized a meeting with Quebec 4-H Shawville Club on August 31, which was also attended by Y4Y President Malcolm Lewis-Richmond and Y4Y Secretary Hayley Campbell.Local Quebec 4-H Club President Becky gave a tour of the annual Shawville Fair to our board members along with her colleagues Delton and Alex. The visit provided great insight into how young people in the community prepare their dairy cows, beef cows and horses for shows, in addition to hearing directly from many English-speaking youth living in rural parts of Western Quebec.
