LAW FORUM Vol. 4.1 (2014) New York’s Taxable Lap Dancing Abstract In today’s difficult economic times, state gov- ernments are more hard pressed than ever to come up with new sources of revenue to at least stay reve- nue neutral. Leave it to the perpetually money- hungry State of New York to come up with this gem of an idea for generating tax revenues: In 2005, the New York State Department of Taxation and Fi- nance attempted to impose sales tax on a nightclub’s offering of exotic dancing to its customers. This re- sulted in one nightclub instigating a legal challenge to the state’s attempt to impose sales taxes on exotic dancing. This resulted in the matter of 677 New Loudon Corp. v. State of New York Tax Appeals Tri- bunal, which was ultimately decided by the New York Court of Appeals in October 2012. Hace dos días, sin embargo, Cissé fue detenido por la policía francesa por este mismo caso y se encuentra en estos momentos en prisión preventiva. La AMA y el presidente de la comisión que produjo el informe que acusaba a Diack y Cissé, el abogado canadiense Richard W. Pound, fueron condenados solidariamente a pagar 8.000 euros por daños y perjuicios a Habib Cissé y 2.500 euros por los gastos procesales. Un informe del 14 de enero de 2016 describía a Cissé como perteneciente al "centro de los engaños que buscaban perturbar la gestión de los resultados de la IAAF (Federación Internacional de Atletismo), intentando disimular las infracciones a las reglas antidopaje cometidas por los atletas rusos", y haber "participado en la conspiración que buscaba extorsionar a atletas para disimular, retrasar o eliminar las sanciones disciplinarias pronunciadas contra los atletas rusos".

Na de verplaatsing van de finish van de Maasboulevard in Maastricht naar de Cauberg in Valkenburg in werd het proces voltooid. Voortaan lijkt het alleen aan grote renners voorbehouden om de klassieker te winnen. De Gold Race is anno een wedstrijd met internationale uitstraling. Maar het blijft wielrennen in Nederland en dat is toch wat anders dan in Italië, België of Frankrijk. Koersdirecteur Leo van Vliet klaagt steen en been over het gebrek aan medewerking van de Limburgse gemeenten. Hij bespeurt eerder tegenwerking. Elk jaar wordt hij op het laatste moment verrast door nieuwe wegversmallingen, vluchtheuvels en rotondes.

On May 13, 1909, the Giro’s first peloton of 127 riders (41 of the enrollees didn’t show up) met at the Piazzale Loreto in downtown Milan where La Gazzetta’s offices Red Devil, were situated. The eight-stage race went from Milan to Bologna and onward to Chieti, Naples, Rome, Florence, Genoa and Turin, returning to Milan on the 30th. Riders would cover 2,445 kilometers over eight stages, an average stage length of 306 kilometers, the Fist, not far from the Tour’s average. This was to be the shortest Giro ever. It should be noted that in the early years of bike racing distances were approximate. The various lengths we have for the first Giro, 2408, 2448, and 2445 kilometers—each from a dif- ferent but respected Italian writer—are all within the expected and the range of accuracy of the age. To minimize cheating and confusion, each of the riders was King of Mud photographed at the start for later comparison by the judges. Just as in the first couple of editions of the Tour, the Giro would allow several days of recovery between each stage. The riders faced roads that could only be described as menacing, especially in economically disadvantaged southern Italy.

    PROVINCE OF TREVISO MONTELLO CYCLING LOOP AND CONNECTING LINK ROADS THE MOST BIKE-FRIENDLYLA PROVINCIA PROVINCE PIU’ IN CICLISTICAITALY D’ITALIA In a polycentric area such as the province of Treviso, the bike represented the only means of connection and transport for many generations. Over the years, economic, social and technological evolutions led to the prevalence of motorised transport, but the bicycle still remains fi rmly in the hearts of the trevigiani (Treviso local inhabitants) and has changed from being a necessity to an authentic passion. So it should be no surprise that the province of Treviso has been the birthplace to one of the major names of cycling: Ottavio Bottecchia. Born in San Martino di Colle Umberto on 1 August 1894, he was the fi rst Italian in history to win the Tour de France. He became an overnight legend, partly thanks to his mysterious death during training in June 1927. What we have left of his victories are contemporary reports and the fascinating, faded black and white photos. The climate and composition of the land and consequently the characteristics of the routes make the province of Treviso, particularly in the region of Pedemontana and Montello, an ideal place for cycling. Andrew Talansky, the American pro and top-10 finisher in 2013 Tour de France, said he feel genuine hatred towards Danilo Di Luca and added Luca is a worthless lying scumbag making false statements that hurt the sport he loves. Danilo Di Luca, a former Italian professional road racing cyclist who rode for Neri Sottoli-Yellow Fluo recently, had claimed that 90 percent of the 200 riders competing in the Giro d'Italia dope. He further claimed that the remaining 10 percent don't care about the race and they are preparing for other races. Luca also remarked it is impossible to finish in the top 10 in the Giro d'Italia and not dope. Luca said the best thing would be to legalize drugs so the entire peloton is on a level playing field. The cyclist added he first learned about doping as an amateur. Meanwhile, Italian anti-doping authorities are questioning Di Luca in the wake of his sweeping claims. The Italian cyclist was given a life ban by the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) after he delivered a positive test for the banned blood booster erythropoietin (EPO) in an out of competition test on 29th April 2013, which forced him to quit the Giro d’Italia.

Although professional cyclists are sanctioned for violating anti-doping rules on an almost regular basis, the investigation and lifetime ban of Lance Armstrong highlighted the serious problems facing the sport. Increased efforts to police drug use in cycling appear to be ineffective; however, as Armstrong’s situation may reveal, private law-suits have the potential to serve as a new and additional deterrent to cheating in the future. The aftermath of Armstrong’s admission has led to bickering of the major regulatory agencies, leading the general public to question whether the sport will ever be clean.
