EPA SUICIDOLOGY AND SUICIDE PREVENTION SECTION REPORT 2017 • Photo contest: The EPA-SSSP first photo contest has been launched and proposed to section members with the aim to stimulate the expression of participants’ thoughts and emotions through photographic images, either traditional or digital. Photographs will be evaluated by a commission that, at its sole discretion, will award three prizes to the best photos and reserve the opportunity to assign special prizes. • Since September 2016 we started collecting declarations of interest about a work group on homicide- suicide and suicide-homicide. A review on the topic of homicide-suicide is currently ongoing, and is involving several Section members, and hopefully it will be ready to be submitted next year. • Flyers: to cover up the need of more info about suicide in at-risk population, we have decided to create flyers with recommendations and orientations about suicide related topics. The flyers include a short summary outlining the state of the art for a particular topic related to suicidal behavior, and a list of practical highlights and useful links related to this topic, as well as illustrations and algorithms to summarize the main aspects. They are focused on the clinical management of the patients and as close as possible to real practice concerns. Currently, flyers on the following topics are available: Surviving cancer; Prevention of suicide among Migrants; LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender); Prevention of suicide among people with substance use disorders; Postvention. We are planning translation in local languages, and diffusion through NPAs. The flyers will be made available to the public in the next EPA congress and can be already downloaded from the EPA’s and the Section’s websites.
