    Stew MacDonald - Bio As Executive Vice President, Revenue for Oilers Entertainment Group, Stew MacDonald is responsible for providing leadership to OEG's revenue operations. As one of the organization's senior executives, he leads a team responsible for ticketing, premium seating, corporate partnerships and customer relationships for the NHL’s Edmonton Oilers and Rogers Place. He also oversees business operations for the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL and Bakersfield Condors of the AHL. Stew began his professional career in 1981 with the Regina Pats of the Western Hockey League, where he served as the club's Director of Marketing and Publicity. In 1987, he joined the Oilers where he played a leading role as the organization's Director of Marketing for over a decade. In 1998, he was named Chief Operating Officer of the American Hockey League's Saint John Flames and guided the organization for five seasons. In 2003, Stew rejoined the Oilers organization on a temporary basis as a member of the project team for the NHL’s first-ever outdoor game, and then on a permanent basis a few months later when he was appointed President of the Edmonton Road Runners Hockey Club. In 2005, he was named the Oilers Vice President of Marketing, and in 2006 he assumed his current duties. A native of Ottawa, Stew holds a diploma in Sports Administration from Durham College. He is based in Edmonton at Oilers Entertainment Group headquarters. Among the highlights of Stew’s career are three Stanley Cup Championships (1987, 1988, 1990), a Calder Cup Championship (2001) and a Memorial Cup Championship (2014).

    The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers finished the first half of the season with a 17-15-1-2 record. After a slow start to the season, the Orange and Black finished strong posting a 7-3-0-0 record in their last 10 games before the Christmas break. The Tigers continue their scoring by committee approach with every skater on the team lighting the lamp to score the team’s 110 goals. Leading the way for the Tabbies are veteran forwards James Hamblin with 38 points (17G, 21A) and Ryan Jevne with 34 points (16G, 18A). Tigers vs. ICE The Tigers and the ICE have met twice so far this season. The ICE took the first game 5-0 while the Tigers won the second game 4-3 in a shootout. Ryan Jevne scored the game-winning goal in the shootout and goaltender Jordan Hollett stopped 32 of 35 shots. Over the past five seasons, Medicine Hat has a 19-3-1-0 record against Kootenay and they will be looking to improve that record tonight. View from Kootenay The Kootenay ICE finished the first half of the season with an 8-25-5-1 record and they were 1-7-2-0 in their last 10 games before the holiday break. The ICE are led by 2019 NHL Draft Eligible Peyton Krebs with 38 points (13G, 25A) and veteran forward Jaeger White with 25 points (13G, 12A). After tonight’s contest, the ICE will return home to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Tigers Talent Josh Williams had his first WHL three-point game Friday, December 14th against the Red Deer Rebels.

    The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers shut out the Regina Pats 7-0 at the Canalta Centre on Tuesday night. Veteran forward Ryan Chyzowski had a three point night (1G, 2A) in the contest while Danish Imports Jonathan Brinkman and Mads Søgaard each made an impact. Brinkman had his first two goal game of his WHL career and Søgaard earned his third shut out of the season stopping all 24 shots faced. The Orange and Black are 34-16-2-1 so far this season and they are led by their Captain James Hamblin with 81 points (33G, 48A). After tonight’s game in Edmonton, the Tigers will return home to host the Winnipeg ICE on Monday for an afternoon tilt. Tigers vs. Oil Kings The Tigers are 1-3-0-0 against the Oil Kings so far this season. Their lone victory came November 16th, 2019, at home when the Tabbies won 5-1. Captain James Hamblin had a four point night (2G, 2A), sophomore forward Corson Hopwo picked up three points (2G, 1A) and goaltender Mads Søgaard stopped 31 of 32 shots faced in the contest. Over the past five years, the Orange and Black are 14-6-2-0 against the Oil Kings and 6-5-0-0 when playing at Rogers Place. The final meeting between these two hockey clubs this season will be March 7th in Medicine Hat. The Oil Kings will be looking to rebound tonight when they host the Medicine Hat Tigers for the fifth game of a six game homestand.

    SPRINGFIELD THUNDERBIRDS: COACHES BIOS GEORDIE KINNEAR - HEAD COACH Geordie Kinnear joins the Springfield Thunderbirds as head coach after serving as an AHL assistant coach since 2001. Kinnear began his coaching career with the Albany River Rats following an eight South Division -year professional playing career and also served as a special assignment scout for the New Jersey Devils during the 2004-05 season. After he played three seasons of junior hockey for the Peterborough Petes of the Ontario Hockey League, the New Jersey Devils drafted Kinnear in the seventh round (162nd overall) of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Beginning with the 1993-94 season, he skated with Albany for the first six years of his career, helping the team reach the playoffs each season. Over that time, he was a member of Albany’s 1995 Calder Cup championship team, appeared in four consecutive AHL All-Star Classics (1995-1999) and served as team captain for three seasons (1996-1999). Kinnear signed with the Atlanta Thrashers as a free agent in August of 1999, making his National Hockey League debut by appearing in four games with Atlanta, posting a total of 13 penalty minutes. He split the 1999-2000 season between Atlanta and the Thrashers’ IHL affiliate, the Orlando Solar Bears. After starting the 2000-01 season with Orlando, he was traded back to New Jersey on Nov. 6, 2000, and played 14 games with Albany before being forced to retire due to injury in December of 2000. A defenseman originally from Simcoe, Ontario, Kinnear totaled 30 goals, 68 assists and 1,094 penalty minutes over the course of 406 career AHL games with Albany.

    Hockey Trivia Answers 1. Answer: c. Floral, SK. Gordie was born in a farmhouse in Floral, SK which was just south of Saskatoon. His family moved to Saskatoon when Gordie was 9 days old. 2. Answer: a. Clark Gillies, Dennis Sobchuk, Ed Staniowski. All three of these great Regina Pats have gone on to NHL careers and have had their numbers retired by the Pats. 3. Answer: d. Mike Wirachowsky, Kim MacDougall. Although Kim MacDougall only played one game in the NHL, both players had great minor league careers with several teams. 4. Answer: b. Colleen Sostorics and Fiona Smith Bell. Colleen Sostorics was part of the Canadian National Team winning 3 Olympic gold medals and many other international medals. Fiona Smith Bell was a member of the Canadian National Team as well and captured an Olympic silver medal. 5. Answer: c. Those who died fighting for Canada in conflict. Established by Captain James T. Sutherland to honour those men who gave their lives during World War I. It was rededicated during the 2010 tournament to honour all soldiers who died fighting for Canada in any conflict. 6. Answer: a. Bryan Trottier. Trottier earned 7 Stanley cups, 6 as a player with the New York Islanders (4) the Pittsburgh Penguins (2). He also won one as a coach with the Colorado Avalanche. 7.
