Only Vreni Schneider (5) has more globes in this event. • Rebensburg's 14 World Cup race wins in giant slalom rank her joint-third all-time among women, alongside Morerod, Anita Wachter and Tina Maze. Only Schneider (20) and Moser-Pröll (16) have won more. • Only Katja Seizinger (16 in downhill, 16 in super-G) has claimed more World Cup race wins in a specific event among German alpine skiers (male or female) than Rebensburg. • Rebensburg's first ever World Cup race win in giant slalom came in Sölden in 2010. She also won the Sölden giant slalom last season and could join Tina Maze (3) on a record three ladies' World Cup wins in the Austrian ski resort. • Rebensburg can become the first woman to win the giant slalom in Sölden in back-to-back seasons. • Rebensburg has finished on the podium in Sölden four times, one shy of the women's record held by Kathrin Zettel (5). Worley looking to win back globe • Tessa Worley finished second in the giant slalom standings last season. • Worley won the crystal globe in this event in 2016/17. The only French woman to have won the giant slalom crystal globe twice is Carole Merle (1991/92 and 1992/93). • Worley's 12 World Cup victories in this event rank her joint-ninth on the all- time list among women, alongside Hanni Wenzel. In joint-seventh place are Sonja Nef and Deborah Compagnoni on 13 victories. • France (49) can become the third country to win 50 ladies' giant slalom races in the World Cup, after Austria (93) and Switzerland (77). • Worley can become the first French woman to win a World Cup race in Sölden. Worley (second in 2017), Régine Cavagnoud (third in 2001), Sophie Lefranc-Duvillard (second in 1993) and Merle (third in 1993) are the only women to finish on the podium for France in the Austrian ski resort (all giant slalom). Shiffrin poised to win first giant slalom globe • Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin finished third last season in the giant slalom standings. She also reached the podium in 2014/15 (3rd) and 2016/17 (2nd). Information provided by • Shiffrin's three podium places in this event are most among all women without winning the globe, together with Maria Epple-Beck and Maria José Rienda Contreras. • Shiffrin has won a total of seven crystal globes, as she has won the slalom title five times and the overall title twice. • The only women who have won a crystal globe in slalom, giant slalom, and overall are Vreni Schneider, Erika Hess, Anja Pärson, Lise-Marie Morerod, Hanni Wenzel and Tamara McKinney. • Shiffrin has won 43 World Cup races, fifth-most among women. Lindsey Vonn (82), Moser-Pröll (62), Schneider (55) and Renate Götschl (46) have won more. • Of these 43 World Cup event victories, six were won in giant slalom, which is second-most among U.S. women behind McKinney (9). • Shiffrin won the season opener in Sölden in 2014, her first World Cup victory in giant slalom. Other contenders • Austrian women have won a record 93 giant slalom races in the World Cup, but not since Eva-Maria Brem won in Jasná in March 2016. • Austria has failed to win the last 18 ladies' World Cup races in giant slalom, their second-longest winning drought in this event, after an 84-race drought set from 1978 to 1989. • Lara Gut has won 24 World Cup races, including four in giant slalom. She won the season opener in Sölden twice, in 2013 and 2016. • Gut could join Tina Maze (3) on a record three ladies' World Cup race wins in Sölden. • Gut needs one more World Cup victory to join Maria Walliser (25) in fourth place among Swiss women, behind Vreni Schneider (55), Erika Hess (31) and Michaela Figini (26). • Ragnhild Mowinckel won the last giant slalom race on the World Cup, in Ofterschwang in March. She can become the first Norwegian woman to win back-to-back giant slalom races on the World Cup. • Andrine Flemmen is the only Norwegian woman to have won multiple World Cup giant slalom races (3). • The last woman to win the last giant slalom race of the season and the first of the next season was Anna Veith in 2014. • Only Deborah Compagnoni (13) and Denise Karbon (6) won more giant slalom races on the World Cup among Italian women than Federica Brignone (4). • The last five ladies' giant slalom races on the World Cup have been won by five different women - Brignone, Shiffrin, Rebensburg, Worley and Mowinckel. • The last time there were six different ladies' giant slalom winners in a row was from March to December 2013.
