While at St. Lawrence, Wiley was a member of the men’s soccer team where he was captain and team MVP as a senior. Wiley ranks 21st on the all-time scoring list. He was a first-team all-Empire Athletic Association selection and a two-time all-league pick. He was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 1993. The Williamstown, Mass., native also has college soccer coaching experience at Clarkson University and Plattsburgh State University. At Clarkson, he planned and supervised in-season and out-of-season practices. He also worked on developing communication between the team, community and university through various community service projects. While acting as the assistant women’s hockey coach at Colgate, Wiley fulfilled the duty of assistant tennis coach or both the men and women’s teams in 2001-02. With an extensive knowledge of marketing, Wiley has served as a valuable member of ECAC Hockey’s Marketing Committee and Officiating Committee. In 2007-08 he was the leader for the ECAC Hockey Pink at the Rink initiative that raised over $40,000 for the American Cancer Society. He has also spearheaded the formation of the Center Ice Club support group for women’s hockey. This group has become the premiere fundraising model for women’s sports at Colgate. Wiley was a member of the Colgate Advocates of Responsible Eating Style (C.A.R.E.S.) Committee at Colgate. He represented the staff in this multidisciplinary committee made up of students, faculty and staff who are dedicated to raising awareness about eating and body image concerns. He currently serves on the AWHCA Convention and Planning Committee and on the Colgate Information Technology Committee and the Committee on Athletics. Wiley, his wife Leta, and their children Kaitlyn, Devin, and Taylor reside in Hamilton.     A staple in the New York region and an emerging program on the nationalQuick stage, the Facts Manhattanville and College Athletic Contents Department continues to bolster its reputation as a program on the rise in all areas: athletic achievement, academic success and overall participation. More than 325 Valiant student-athletes (nearly 20 percent of the student body) took part in intercollegiate athletics during the 2011-12 school year showcasing the continued and rapid growth of athletics at Manhattanville. With women’s golf beginning play as a varsity sport in 2012-13, the program now sponsors 20 competitive intercollegiate teams – including eight teams that have been established or re-established since 2007 alone. And teams at Manhattanville do not just compete, they win. Three teams earned conference regular-season or tournament championships in 2011-12 and two Valiant squads (men’s soccer and men’s golf) made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Fifteen of 21 Valiant squads earned berths in their respective conference championships last year, including the third straight title and seventh in 11 seasons for men’s golf. In addition, the men’s hockey, men’s golf and women’s hockey teams all received national rankings over the course of the year. On an individual level, many Valiant student-athletes were honored in 2011-12 as well, led by All-America selections Eros Olazabal (men’s soccer) and Dan Fiorito (baseball). Manhattanville also boasted three Freedom Conference Players of the Year and two Freedom Rookies of the Year to go with 47 combined All-Conference honorees. In recent years, at least 35 former Valiants have gone on to play their sport professionally either domestically or overseas as well.

The Crimson entered the March 11 game already trailing 1-0 in its best-of-three ECAC Hockey League quarterfinal series against St. Lawrence. Now it was 20 minutes away from being eliminated from the league playoffs and possibly losing a shot at the NCAA tourna- ment. Two goals can change a lot. Harvard defeated St. Lawrence, 8-4, in the deciding quarterfinal game, then cruised past Dartmouth,10-1, and Cornell, 6-2, on the league’s championship weekend in Albany March 17-18.
