After trailing 1-0 entering the second period the Saints rebounded in style through some outstanding power play work. Working with a 5-on- 3 advantage junior Marianna Locke netted the tying goal at the 4:11 mark. The Saints would take the lead a mere 1:20 later when junior Alison Domenico scored her first goal of the season. The Wildcats would go take away the Saints passing lanes in the third period, which resulted in offensive opportunities where they capitalized in registering three goals on their way to the victory. The competition on Saturday’s game between two of the country’s top teams was just as scintillating. Senior Goaltender Meaghan Guckian registered a 21-save shutout and Carson Duggan scored twice in a 3-0 Saints win. A well balanced offensive showing combined with a stingy defensive effort led to a dominating weekend for the Golden Knights as they swept Wayne State in this past weekend’s series. On Friday (10/5) the Golden Kights jumped out to a 2-0 lead just five minutes into the game show- casing a potent offense that registered seven total goals in a dominating 7-1 victory. Britney Selina lead the offensive attack with two goals and one assist. Junior Marie-Jo Gaudet also chipped in two goals, while last season’s leading scorer Genevieve Lavoie added a goal and two assists. Freshman Lauren Dahm, benefitting from some strong defensive play, was solid in goal for Clarkson posting 15 saves in her NCAA debut. Following the victory on Friday night, the Golden Knights continued its standout play in its season-opening series with another dominating performance on Saturday (10/6) by shutting out the Warriors 7-0. Junior Marie-Jo Gaudet and sophomore Genevieve Lavoie sparked the offense with two goals and one assist apiece. Senior Brooke Beazer tallied one goal and two assists. Sophomore RECENT RESULTS defenseman Carlee Eusepi and freshman Rebecca Gordon, with her first collegiate goal, rounded out the scoring. Freshman Eve Grandmont-Berube posted 15 saves to record the shutout in her Friday, October 5: Clarkson debut. Clarkson 7 vs. Wayne State 1 Rensselaer opened the season losing 2-1 in overtime to No. 8 ranked Boston College.
