Today, we are excited to share a story written by Amhara Regional Communications team, Amhara Water Bureau Communications Office, from their field visit in COWASH Woreda and Zones. We thank the Amhara Regional Communications Network for rolling this out. Short translation of the post: Communities in East Gojjam Zone, Dejen Woreda, Yezemeten Kebele revealed that due to COWASH and Community Managed Approach, the community got better access for clean water in the Woreda. In the field visit conducted by Amhara Water Office, the community members told visitors that they were severely affected by lack of clean water. Thanks to CMP, now they said that they no more waste time and energy looking for water. According to W/o Wude Ayele, WASCHO member said that the water point was built by the community with leadership of women. She added, there is a sanitation committee assigned to keep the safety of the water point. Ato. Birhan Alemu, resident of the community said, his children were used to be sick due to the water borne diseases called Alekit and was nearly saved from death. He lost cattle due to the unclean water. Now he said it is a big relief after the construction and happy to enjoy safe water. CMP Supervisor Habtie Teshome, revealed that COWASH not only built community water points but also has constructed school latrines to promote sanitation in the Woreda. He also stated that to build capacity of the Woreda, COWASH provides vehicles and other materials to the Woreda. ከቅርብ ጊዜ ወዲህ የንፁህ መጠጥ ውሃ ተደራሽ እየሆንን ነው ሲሉ በምስራቅ ጎጃም ዞን ደረጃን ወረዳ የዘመትን ቀበሌ ነዋራዎች ተናገሩ፡፡ ነዋሪዎቹ በንፁህ መጠጥ ውሃ እጥረት ስንሰቃይና ለመንግስትም አቤት ስንል ቆይተናል፤ ጊዜው ደረሶ ዛሬ ጥያቄያችን መልስ አግኝቷል፡፡ አሁን ላይ ለውሃ ፍለጋ የምናባክነው ጊዜም ሆነ ጉልበት የለም ይላሉ፡፡ ወ/ሮ ውዴ አየለ በደጀን ወረዳ የዘመትን ቀበሌ ነዋሪና የውሃ ጣቢያው ኮሜቴ ናቸው፡፡ ከአሁኑ በፊት የነበረውን የውሃ ችግር እንዲቀረፍ መንግስትም ሆነ ህብረተሰቡ የድርሻውን ተወጥቷል ይላሉ፡፡ ወይዘሮ ውዴ አክለው በውሃ ተቋሙ ግንባታ ላይ የህብረተሰቡ የነቃ ተሳትፎ የጎላ እንደነበር ገልፀው፤ ከተጠናቀቀም በኋላ የውሃና ስነ ንፅህና ኮሜቴውና ተጠቃሚው ማህበረሰብ በአግባቡ እያስተዳደረው መሆኑን ተናግረዋል፡፡ ሴቶች በኮሜቴው ጉልህ ተሳታፊ መሆናቸውን ደግሞ ስራችንን ስኬታማ አድርታል ይላሉ ወይዘሮዋ፡፡ የቀበሌው ነዋሪ የሆኑት አቶ ብርሃን አለሙ በበኩላቸው ብዙ የመጠጥ ውሃ ችግር ይገጥማቸው እንደነበር ይባስ ብሎም ልጃቸው ከውሃ ጋር አለቅት ጨምሮ ጠጥቶ ከሞት እንደተረፈም አጫውተውናል፡፡ እንስሳቱም ቢሆን በዛው መጠን በአለቅት ይሰቃዩ እንደነበርና፤ ታዲያ ዛሬ ያ ሁሉ ፈተና አልፎ የንፁህ መጠጥ ውሃ ተጠቃሚ ሆነናል ይላሉ፡፡ በፅ/ቤቱ የማህበረሰብ ትግበራ ፕሮግራም አስተባባሪ አቶ ሀብቴ ተሾመ እንደዚሁ ኘሮግራሙ በንፁህ መጠጥ ውሃ ብቻም ሳይሆን በት/ቤቶችና ጤና ጣቢያ ተቋማት የመጠጥ ውሃና መፀዳጃ ቤቶችን እየገነባ የወረዳውን ህ/ሰብ የንፁህ መጠጥ ውሃና ሳኒቴሽን ተደራሽ እያደረገ ነው ብለዋል፡፡ በማስከተልም የማህበረሰብ ትግበራ ፕሮግራም በጀት በመመደብ ዘርፉን ከማገዝ ባሻገር የተለያዩ ቁሳቁሶችን እንደ ተሽከሪካሪና ኤሌክትሮኒክስ ዕቃዎችን በማቅረብ በአግባቡ እየደገፈን ነው ይላሉ፡፡ አክለውም ፕሮጀክቱ የወረዳውን ውሃና ስነ ንፅህና ተደራሽነት ከፍ አድረጎታል ለዚህም ምስጋና ሊቸረው ይገባል ብለዋል፡፡
