David B. curate in charge, FARMERS. the Rectory Browns William, Manor house Temple James, "Three Horseshoes Inn" Dodman Martin, and landowner Youngs Mrs. Margaret, shopkeeper Temple James TITTLESHALL-CUM-GODWICK is a parish in Laun ditch hundred, Mitford and Launditch union, diocese and archdeaconry of Norwich, rnral deanery of Brisley, and county court district of East Dereham, West Norfolk, distant 5 miles N. of Great Dunham, and 6 S. by W. of Fakenham. The church, St. Mary, is an ancient edifice, with square tower containing four bells ; in the chancel are several handsome monuments. Here is a splendid black and white marble monument to Sir Edward Coke, Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench, with his effigy in full length, and a monument to Sir Edward's first wife, Bridget, with the effigies of herself and eight children, and one to the Earl of Leicester and his son, also a beautiful monument to Mrs. Jane Co:Ke, the first wife of the late Venerable Earl of Leicester, which cost 3,000 guineas. The living is a rectory, annexed to those of Godwick and Wellingham, joint annual value £947, with residence and 53 acres of glebe land, in the gift of the Earl of Leices ter; the Hon. and Rev. Kenelm Henry Digby, M.A., is the rector. There are a few charities. GonwrcK, which cqnsists of only one farm, is distant 1 mile N. of Tittleshall. The church has long been in ruins. The parish contains about 8,360 acres, principally the property of the Earl of Leicester, who is also lord of the manor, forming the manors of Greynstones or Caley, Coxford, Godwick Hall, in ruins, Peek Hall, New Hall, and part of the manors of Whissonett and Burghwood Hall. Here are chapels for the Baptists, Wesleyan Methodists, and Primitive Method ists; also a large reading room and an infant school. The church, which is a small edifice, is ornamented with a beautifully carved oak roof, and separated from ilhe chancel by a handsome Elizabethan .
