Press Reviews “Gathered at Her Sky” “Tantra-zawadi is one of the finest and greatest female poets who has undoubtedly ushered in a new era and genre that will take the 21st century into one where humanity will move forward. She rejuvenates the weak mind, shakes and moves hard hearts. If one wants the power of poetry, then Tantra’s is the holistic package.” -Betty Makoni, CNN Hero and Founder of the Girl Child Network “Tantra’s writing oozes with the passion of Neruda and the sensitivity of Sonia. Her words can warm the coldest of hearts.” -Bruce George, Co-founder of Russell Simmons Def Poetry Jam “Tantra-zawadi’s poetry speaks of a global consciousness and ambassadorship; each word of every line reminds us of the connection we have to one another in the race to win.” -Tshombe Sekou Harris, Founder/Host of Freedom Verse Café “The power in her words percolates; the truth in her story persuades; and the activism in her message is victorious.” -Chuma Whahid Rasul, Founder/CEO of Chuma Spirit Books, LLC and author Of The Third Eye of a Butterfly Love Seeker Groove Assassin ft. Tantra-zawadi Gotta Keep Faith Records “I must tell you that the track is grooving. But if you have been a follower of this awesome poet, you would know that anything that she is on turns to gold.” -Dante Rizon, (The Scoop) Spokenvizions Magazine “In demand producer/DJ Groove Assassin makes his debut on Gotta Keep Faith Records with the massive ‘Love Seeker’ featuring freaky keys and chords alongside mean spoken words by Tantra-zawadi over a relentless funktified groove.” -Mike Fossati, Spirit of House Soldier Blues Tantra-zawadi knows from impact - Soldier Blues--a "poetic movement" concerned with the well-being of our military forces and their families--makes her wicked-sharp, blues-based spoken word performance the solid core of a contained multimedia team presentation. She's sensational, rousing and right as rain. Eva YaaAsantewaa Arts Journalist “alifepoeminprogress” “Her book, 'alifepoeminprogress,' allows you to see the many dimensions of her outstanding talent. In her book, she displays what I perceive to be the epitome of a woman evolved. She has the kind of spirit that encourages others to look inside themselves instead of elsewhere for respect, dignity, happiness, and above all, love. In my mind, she exceeds Platinum status because the pleasure I receive while reading her work is priceless." -Renee Johnson, Platinum Poets Follow Tantra-zawadi Online: Tantra-zawadi Author stream Poets & Writers.org Facebook Twitter Amazon, Author Central About.me YouTube ReverbNation.

  • HBO: Brand Management and Subscriber Aggregation: 1972-2007
1 HBO: Brand Management and Subscriber Aggregation: 1972-2007 Submitted by Gareth Andrew James to the University of Exeter as a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in English, January 2011. This thesis is available for Library use on the understanding that it is copyright material and that no quotation from the thesis may be published without proper acknowledgement. I certify that all material in this thesis which is not my own work has been identified and that no material has previously been submitted and approved for the award of a degree by this or any other University. ........................................ 2 Abstract The thesis offers a revised institutional history of US cable network Home Box Office that expands on its under-examined identity as a monthly subscriber service from 1972 to 1994. This is used to better explain extensive discussions of HBO‟s rebranding from 1995 to 2007 around high-quality original content and experimentation with new media platforms. The first half of the thesis particularly expands on HBO‟s origins and early identity as part of publisher Time Inc. from 1972 to 1988, before examining how this affected the network‟s programming strategies as part of global conglomerate Time Warner from 1989 to 1994. Within this, evidence of ongoing processes for aggregating subscribers, or packaging multiple entertainment attractions around stable production cycles, are identified as defining HBO‟s promotion of general monthly value over rivals. Arguing that these specific exhibition and production strategies are glossed over in existing HBO scholarship as a result of an over-valuing of post-1995 examples of „quality‟ television, their ongoing importance to the network‟s contemporary management of its brand across media platforms is mapped over distinctions from rivals to 2007.

Tonight we are honored to serve as presenting sponsors and celebrate the 17th anniversary of our partnership with the Environmental Media Association. Over the past 17 years, we’ve helped honor the thought leaders that inspire millions to lead more environmentally conscious lives. Tonight we continue to celebrate the efforts of the entertainment industry and celebrities that shape our culture. After all these years, we are still inspired by EMA’s efforts to promote environmental awareness using the powerful medium of entertainment. Tonight we’ve brought an inspiring vehicle line up to the party. The 2017 Toyota Mirai hydrogen fuel cell vehicle returns to the green carpet. As one of the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles, the Toyota Mirai is a four-door, mid- size sedan with performance that fully competes with traditional internal combustion engines – but uses no gasoline. Instead, Mirai creates electricity on demand using hydrogen, oxygen and a fuel cell, and emits nothing but water vapor in the process. Lexus is excited to showcase its all-new hybrid luxury sedan, the LS 500h. • Writer Lemon Andersen
ToasT a play by Lemon Andersen directed by Elise Thoron DESCRIPTION In 1971, an inmate had to choose between going home after twenty-seven years of imprisonment or joining the uprising in Attica. ToasT is a new play by Lemon Andersen that celebrates the poetic history of Black narratives called "Toasts". The play takes fictional characters from this oral tradition and puts them in a non-fictional setting (Attica Prison) . The most famous hero from the toast tradition "Willie Green", also known as "Dolomite", has been locked up for the past twenty-seven years in Attica's D-block for multiple counts of murder. He shares the prison with other folklore heroes like Jesse James, Hobo Ben, Stackolee, and Hard Rock. They kill the hard prison time spending their days sharing war stories, playing cards, and drinking hooch. The brutal conditions these inmates are living in pushes the young hotheaded Hard Rock to lead a revolution. He spends his time trying to convince his fellow inmates to join him in an uprising even if it means sacrificing their lives. Behind Hard Rock's preaching about grievances lies the real story of Dolomite secretly being given an unexpected early release date. Having to tell his fellow inmates about his release is defeating his soul. Every time Dolomite has a chance to tell the inmates, his moment to reveal the truth is interrupted by daily prison culture, Hard Rock's rants, and signifying toasts. As temperature rises and an uprising approaches, Hard Rock is taken by the guards, what will Dolomite do? BACKGROUND "Toast" is an art form of reciting poetry based on characters and situations derived from the Black experience, mostly told and performed in the prisons, bars, and pool halls of America.
