An ancient paper exists that traces the history of Roman and Parthian agreements and conflicts throughout the first century BC in the context of the development of the Euphrates as a boundary. The paper also argues that mainly the upper section of the Euphrates came to play this role and that previous analyses of the middle Euphrates may have produced a misleading understanding of Roman and Parthian activity on this section of the river. The “Parthian shot” is a light horse military tactic made famous by the Parthians, an ancient Iranian people. While appearing to be in retreat, and with their horse in full gallop, archers would turn their bodies to face backward and then fire a very accurate arrow at an enemy in closing pursuit. (Tobit 12:15) Three of the archangels mentioned by name in the Bible are archangel Michael and angel Gabriel and the fallen angel Lucifer. The four names of other archangels come from postcanonical writings and tradition. For example, Chapter 20 of the 1st Book of Enoch (The Watchers) mentions seven holy angels, that often are considered to be the seven archangels: Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel, Saraqael, Raguel, and Lucifer.
