Kyle Royer was selected to the ISAA adidas Scholar-Athlete All-American squad three straight years (1988-89-90). Goalkeeper Greg Murphy was both an ISAA Adidas Scholar-Athlete All-America selection as well as a GTE/CoSIDA Fall-Winter At-Large Academic All-American for the 1991 season. Joe Burch was named to the GTE/CoSIDA Fall-Winter At-Large Academic All-America squad third team in 1995 and first team in 1996. Burch was also selected to the NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-American Honorable Mention squad following the 1995 season. Back Dave Dyminski was the first BG booter to receive All-America recognition for play on the field. He was named to the NSCAA All-America Honorable Mention squad in 1972 and moved up to the second team in 1973. Midfielder Bud Lewis increased the Falcons’ streak to three consecutive years with his honorable-mention All-America accolades in 1974. Forward Dennis Mepham received honorable-mention status in 1979. Midfielder Neil Ridgway was a two-time First-Team All-America selection in 1982 and 1983. Back Jon Felton was named to the third team in 1987, while forward Rob Martella earned first-team recognition following the 1992 campaign. Midfielder Steve Klein became the third Falcon player to receive first-team accolades with his selection in 1996. Goalkeeper Scott Vallow was named to the NSCAA All-America Third Team in both 1997 and 1998. Bowling Green men’s soccer’s first head coach, Mickey Cochrane, was inducted into the NSCAA Hall of Fame in 1995. Both Cochrane (1964) and his protege, Gary Palmisano (1996), received an NSCAA Letter of Commendation, with Cochrane also selected as the winner of the 1978 NSCAA Honor Award. BGSU had a pair of All-Americans in 1998, in Ty Fowler and Chris Doré. Falcon All-American Scott Vallow Fowler graduated with a 3.93 GPA in psychology and was selected to the 1999 visits with Pelé. Vallow was a two- GTE/CoSIDA Fall-Winter At-Large Academic All-America First Team. Doré time NSCAA All-American in 1997-98 was named to the NSCAA All-America Third Team. JACOB LAWRENCE In November of 2009, Jacob Lawrence became the first BGSU men’s soccer ESPN The Magazine/ player in a decade to be named an Academic All-American.
