28thAnnual Hall of Fame Banquet 1914-2010 March 20, 2010

2009 Hall of Fame Inductees Hall of Fame Website: www.wisconsinsoccer.org Serb Hall Welcomes You to the 2010 Hall of Fame Banquet!

For Business Meetings, Breakfasts, Luncheons, Dinners

5101 West Oklahoma Avenue (414) 545-6030 Dear Friends of Wisconsin Soccer:

Welcome to the 28th Annual Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame Banquet. Through the hard work and planning of the Hall of Fame committee, this occasion has become a cherished yearly event where the Wisconsin soccer community can come together as one to honor our past, celebrate our pres- ent and strengthen our resolve for the future. This year also marks the 96th anniversary of the Wisconsin Soccer Association, established in 1914.

Please join me in congratulating the newest inductees, a proud addition to the already distinguished list of WSA Hall of Fame members. The Hall of Fame committee is openly seeking nominations for future classes. Application forms are available in this program booklet, so please take this opportunity to begin the nomination process for the next class of inductees. I also want to thank the Hall of Fame committee members for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. They have selected a very deserving class of inductees and organized another outstanding banquet.

This evening we will also recognize individuals and clubs with outstanding achievements and contribu- tions to the WSA from the State Referee Committee, the Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association and the Wisconsin Adult Soccer Association. Awards will be presented to youth, the coach of the year, along with Meritorious Awards to individuals in recognition for decades of service with the Wisconsin Soccer Association.

The WSA is a family with four divisions: Adults, Coaches, Referees and Youths. I want to call your attention to several of the wonderful programs offered within the WSA family like TOPSoccer for chil- dren with disabilities, competitive leagues for adult men and women in the WASA that offer opportuni- ties for players after both high school and college, and the Olympic Development Program (ODP) for boys and girls at the top of their youth club play. The association also offers coaching and referee clinics at various levels, several times each year.

Volunteers are the foundation of the Wisconsin Soccer Association and will fuel the future growth of soccer in Wisconsin. Many mothers and fathers get involved as coaches or managers when their chil- dren begin playing soccer, and then continue to give back to the sport as they move on into the role of club or league administrator. Many soccer players also become coaches or referees. If you want more information about volunteer opportunities within the Wisconsin Soccer Association, please call 414- 545-7227.

Finally, I would like to thank all of you for your efforts to support and advance the sport of soccer in Wisconsin, and for your continued support of the WSA and our Hall of Fame.

Yours in Soccer,

We are still looking for sev- eral photos. If you don’t like the quality in this book and have access to one of the photos missing, please let us know. We can scan the photo and return it to you after we take a high quality scan.

Hall of Fame Qualifications & Rules for Inductions of Candidates

The Wisconsin Soccer Association, Inc., has established four categories under which members may be inducted in the W.S.A. Hall of Fame. The categories are: • P layers • R eferees • C oaches • A dministrators

NOTE: While persons may not qualify in any one category, their efforts in a combination of two or more categories may make them a viable candidate.

Qualifications for each category and general rules to determine eligibility are as follows:

WSA PLAYERS: To be considered, players must have at least gained prominence in WSA competition. The player most likely to be selected is apt to have experience on the USSF, Regional or National level. Prominent players who went on to serve as referees, coaches, and /or administrators may perceive priority consideration. Active players will not be considered. (Note: participation in “Old Timers” or other non-WSA recreational play does not constitute “Active Play”.)

WSA REFEREES: Referees must have at least a considerable service record as a WSF/USSF State Referee. Candidates most likely to be selected are apt to hold National and/or FIFA licenses and have functioned on those levels. Former WSA players who went on to serve as referees on the levels noted above may receive priority consideration. WSA referees who may or may not have been WSA players and who went on to serve as WSA coaches, and/or administrators may also receive priority consideration, provided the above conditions are met. Referees who are still active in the WSA will not be considered in the referee category, however they may be candidates in other categories.

WSA COACHES: Consideration for induction may be given to coaches who have for a considerable time, functioned on either the WSA Youth or Adult level or both. Candidates most likely to be selected are apt to have served on a State, Regional and/or National level. High school and/or college coaches may receive consideration provided that their services have been extended to benefit the Wisconsin Soccer Association and the USSF. Coaches who become WSA referees, Regional, State or National administrators may receive priority considerations, provided the above conditions are met. Coaches who are still active may be considered. WISCONSIN SOCCER ASSOCIATION, INC. 10708 W. Hayes Avenue West Allis, WI 53227 414-545-7227 Fax 414-545-7249 Affiliated with the United States Soccer Federation

WSA ADMINISTRATORS: To be considered as a candidate for induction, administrators must be functioning, or have functioned on the WSA State, Regional or National level. The length of service in these positions must be 7 to 10 years. Club administrators, who meet none of the other qualifications stated in these guidelines, should NOT be considered viable candidates. WSA players, referees and/or coaches who went on to become administrators, may receive priority consideration provided the conditions noted above are met.

GENERAL RULES: 1. C andidates must be past or present members of the WSA and may be selected from the Youth or Adult Divisions.

2. Ten is the maximum number of inductees per year and there is no minimum number.

3. I nductees need to submit a 5 x 7 photograph.

4. The Hall of Fame committee will select nominees from candidates whose names were submitted to the committee and who meet the required qualifications.

5. C lubs or individuals may submit candidates for the Hall of Fame.

6. I nductees will be selected from the nominations received, based on the information provided by the nominators. Additional information may be requested if needed.

7. The Hall of Fame Committee will consist of seven members, one of which will function as Chairman.

8. A quorum will consist of five or more members, present at a previously scheduled meeting.

9. The Chairman and members of the Hall of Fame Committee will be appointed by the WS President and may include Youth and Adult Division members.

10. It is the responsibility of the Hall of Fame Committee to annually schedule and organize a Hall of Fame Banquet and the induction of new members.

11. The Hall of Fame Committee will encourage the maintenance and growth of the Hall of Fame Members Club.
