Druids Rugby Sponsorship Opportunities 2015 DRUIDS RUGBY SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 2015 Home of Western Canada’s Largest High School Rugby Tournament The Lynn Davies Tournament -Hosting Over 650 Young Athletes from Western Canada Druids Rugby Est 1960 Strong - Tough - Proud INTRODUCTION The Strathcona Druids Rugby Football Club (R.F.C.) is an Edmonton based club founded in 1960. The Outlaws Rugby Club was founded in 1990 in Sherwood Park. In1997 the two clubs joined forces under the name Strathcona Druids RFC. Since this joint venture the club has grown and now boasts a junior program as well as 2 Senior Men’s teams and 2 Senior Women’s teams. In 2014 we had a membership of over 250 players ranging in age from 8 to 60 years. Through the combined effort of its members and supporters the club has transformed an abandoned skeet and trap shooting facility into one of the premier rugby facilities in Western Canada. The Lynn Davies Rugby Park is comprised of a clubhouse, 4 regulation rugby fields and 2 training areas. This high quality facility not only provides a safe and reliable home for our players but has also attracted such events as the 2007 Western Canada Summer games. We have been proud to have supplied training facilities for the national rugby teams of Canada, Scotland and England, who played in the 2004 to 2006 Churchill Cup held in Edmonton’s Commonwealth Stadium. During the Women’s World Cup of Rugby held in Edmonton in 2006, we provided training facilities for teams from The US and France. In 2003 and 2009 Canadian Interuniversity Sports held their National and Can-West competitions on our grounds. Every year the Druids host the Lynn Davies High School Rugby Tournament. Over 600 young athletes from all over Western Canada come to compete. In 2015 the Lynn Davies High School Tournament will celebrate its 21st anniversary. Volunteers from within our membership coach local high school teams and also teach the rugby portion of the physical education curriculum in 7 local Junior High Schools. The Edmonton and Metro High School Athletic Association have no regulation rugby pitches on which to run their spring leagues. We provide to them subsidized use of our fields. On average, 40 games are played on our fields each spring. All that the Druids members enjoy and all that we have to offer our community does not come easily. The club is a registered non-profit organization, and the facility is maintained through the hard work of the members and the generosity of our corporate neighbours. This exclusive club will draw monthly, year round. Please contact Ken Trumper, Board of Governors 780 690 2226 or [email protected] for more information PLAYER INCENTIVE PROGRAM As a club we need to encourage more people to play, to increase our membership, and to spread the word of rugby to the community. For 2015 the executive has decided to place an incentive to the membership to recruit people to rugby, whether it be a returning player, a high school student or someone from out of town. If you bring them to rugby, you will receive $25 in Druids bucks. This amount is not capped i.e if you were to bring 30 new registrants for 2015 you would receive $750. This should be an incentive for everybody, including high school coaches. Also, the incentive can be split between two people so if both of you are coaching at a high school you can both receive the rewards of bringing new people to our program. BUSINESS E-BOOK Rugby is unlike any other sport in the way it provides unique networking abilities. The purpose of the Druids 2015 Business E-Book is to truly connect our membership and those that are connected to our membership to create a community that helps each other in business. For $50, businesses will get to post a larger sized business card ad or blurb about themselves. This book will be emailed to well over 500 persons associated with the Druids including over 150 members, and will be sent out on May 1st , October 1st 2015, and February 1st 2016 in a printable format. The front of the flyer will include the logo of the company or individual that is hosting the day. Within the flyer we will have player profiles, interviews and match day lineups. One home game in particular that we hope to garner specific interest for is Druids Day, slated for July. This occasion is marked well in advance on the Druids RFC calendar and is well attended by both our membership and the visiting team and fans. Whether it be cooking burgers whilst the games are going on, or clearing snow from the front of the clubhouse during the winter. Alumni have long been the backbone of the Druids. If as an Alumni you can afford to join the AAD Group, this would be greatly appreciated. The point of this group is to not only provide a little bit of financial gain to the club, but also to provide a place where members can still be part of the club after their playing days are over. One of the major perks of AAD is a reduced rate on facility rentals. The club will also be running promotions during games for AAD members. AAD Group membership will be set at $50.00 for 2015.
