Slints Spiderland Free FREE SLINTS SPIDERLAND PDF Scott Tennent | 144 pages | 30 Dec 2010 | Continuum Publishing Corporation | 9781441170262 | English | New York, United States Slint - Spiderland (, Vinyl) | Discogs Slint's landmark second album has been reissued in a box set that includes outtakes, live cuts, and a feature-length documentary by Lance Bangs. The record's greatest Slints Spiderland might be the boundless inspiration it perpetually provides for all the bands that have yet to emerge from the basement. And just what did Slint think their audience—who, judging from the faint smattering of applause, barely cracked the double digits— needed to hear at that moment? In many respects, the story Slints Spiderland Slint is an exceedingly familiar one of influence accruing in absentia, of mavericks who were ignored in their time and had to wait years to get their due. Through their initial existence, Slint were obscure Slints Spiderland even within the subterranean confines of the American indie-rock underground. Compared to the get-in-the-van, play-anywhere ethic practised by fellow s-hardcore students, Slint rarely performed live, and when they did, it was rarely as a headliner. Slints Spiderland were scarce; band photos all the more so. And with the similarly atmospheric, equally explosive likes of Mogwai and Godspeed You! Black Emperor dominating the lates indie-rock conversation, Slint ceased to be just some band that had broken up too soon and became an entire subgenre of Slints Spiderland unto itself. I mean, just look at the cover of the Slints Spiderland set—notice something missing? The demos practically break down Spiderland on a riff-by-riff basis, as we hear the songs devolve from pre-production dress rehearsals to rudimentary acoustic sketches recorded on cassette. When Slint began working on the songs that would form Spiderland inthe initial wave of post-hardcore indie rock was on the wane, with scene stalwarts either trading up the major label-bound Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr. Slints Spiderland accentuating lyrics that were muttered rather than screamed, all enhanced by a strategic use of space that meant the silences between the notes accumulated their own crushing Slints Spiderland. And that seemed to be the case for the band itself. Their drifting, meandering nature suggests returning to the same headspace was Slints Spiderland daunting a proposition. Brashear—who wasn't involved in the reunion Slints Spiderland now runs a video store. It's only now that he's reemerging with his first proper band in two decades, Watterwhose debut album comes out next month Slints Spiderland Temporary Residence. Spiderland has always felt like the work of old, wizened souls who had endured great physical and psychological trauma and barely survived to impart their cautionary tales. Slints Spiderland guess is Rainbo just ran out of the Slints Spiderland labels for part of a run. The poster was a horizontal image of a spider taken through a microscope by Noel Saltzman. The circolary sound of the guitars moves me still so much. The poor package, as an hiding place of a treasure. For me Spiderland is rather boring. It's all so pretentious, predictable, planned. LP - Slint : Spiderland – Eat Dust Spiderland is the second and final studio album by the American rock band Slints Spiderland. Touch and Go Records issued the album on March 27,as the band's first release on the independent label. Walford also performed lead vocals and guitar on the track "Don, Aman". Brian Paulson engineered the album, which comprises six songs across approximately 40 minutes. Slint formed in Louisville, Kentucky in The band members met as teenagers playing in the Midwestern punk scene, but Slint soon diverged from their hardcore roots. By the time they recorded Spiderland in latethey had developed a complex, idiosyncratic sound. Atypical rhythmic metersharmonic dissonanceand irregular song structures characterize the album's style. The band exerted tight control over the Slints Spiderland dynamics with extreme, sometimes abrupt changes between quiet and loud. The vocals alternate between spoken word, singing, and shouting. The narrative lyrics evoke moods of unease, loneliness, and despair. Slint broke up shortly before the album's release. At first, Spiderland prompted little critical notice and negligible sales. Over the next two decades, it sold at a slow but steady pace and its influence grew. The record's alien sound anticipated the emergence of math rock and post-rock in the mids. It attracted a cult followingand critics recognized it as a milestone of experimental rock. SinceSlint reunited for three tours performing the album live in its entirety. InTouch and Go released a remastered version of the album Slints Spiderland a deluxe box set with bonus material. Slint formed in in LouisvilleKentuckyfrom the remnants of the punk rock band Squirrel Bait ; the founding members included Brian McMahan guitar, vocalsDavid Pajo guitarBritt Walford drums and Ethan Buckler bass guitar. The band's debut album, the Steve Albini -produced Tweezwas released on the group's self-owned label Jennifer Hartman Records and Tapes. The EP, which would not be released untilwas a departure from Tweez 's sound and reflected the band's new musical direction. Around this time [ when? At that time there were no vocals or lyrics prepared for the album, so the band wrote them while in the Slints Spiderland. I've never heard anything like this. I'm really digging this but it's really fucking weird. The recording sessions for Spiderland are reputed to have been difficult Slints Spiderland the members of the band and were, according to AllMusic"intense, traumatic and one more piece of evidence supporting the theory that band members had to be periodically institutionalized during the completion of the album. McMahan's singing style interchanges between mumbling spoken word and strained shouting. The lyrics of Spiderland are often written in a narrative style. Delivered in a hushed tone, the song's ambiguous lyrics depict the thoughts of an "isolated soul" before, after and during an evening at a bar. On the iTunes edition of the album, an additional track is added to the end of the album, entitled "Utica Quarry, Slints Spiderland. The Slints Spiderland is simply 15 minutes of field recordings of Utica Quarry, the same place where the photos for Spiderland were taken. The name Spiderland originates from Slints Spiderland younger brother, who thought that the record sounded "spidery". Listeners pondered the band's sparsely adorned black-and-white covers as if they were runes bearing secrets. The back cover features a photograph of a dead wolf spider taken by Noel Saltzman, who was also responsible for the uncredited cover photo for the band's untitled EP. McMahan confirmed that this message was serious, and said Slints Spiderland did get some responses and we did listen to CDs and tapes. We didn't end up Slints Spiderland anything immediately, so that idea of adding someone sort of fell by the wayside. Slint broke up in December in the middle of final preparations for Spiderland ' s release. The album's release passed virtually unnoticed by the American music press. We definitely avoided it and it was not a considered marketing decision.

    Mogwai – As The Love Continues (1:01:24, Digital, CD, Vinyl, Rock Action Records/[PIAS]/Rough Trade, 2021) Neun vollwertige Studioalben und diverse Live-Aufnahmen, Soundtracks und EPs haben uns Mogwai bisher in ihren 26 Jahren Bandgeschichte beschert und dabei den Sound des Post Rock- Genres so sehr geprägt wie kaum eine andere Band. „As The Love Continues“ ist nun das zehnte reguläre Album der Schotten und erscheint exakt ein Vierteljahrhundert nach deren Debütsingle ‚Turner’/’Lower‘ und nur wenige Monate nach dem Soundtrack für die Serie „ZeroZeroZero“. Und schon nach wenigen Takten ist „As The Love Continues“ eindeutig als Mogwai-Album identifizierbar. Sprich, auf dem neuen Album der Formation aus Glasgow ist (fast) alles beim Alten geblieben. Ganz in Bandtradition legen die Schotten im Laufe dieses Stücks Soundschicht um Soundschicht übereinander, bevor der Einsatz verzerrter Gitarren und die so Mogwai-typische Laut-Leise- Dynamik das Stück in einer voluminösen, aber dennoch organischen Wall of Sound zu Ende gehen lassen. Das anschließende ‚Here We, Here We, Here We Go Forever‘ wird durch piepende Synthesizer-Sounds eingeleitet, welche stilistisch an die schottischen Landsleute vonBoards of Canada denken lassen. Die Melodieführung des Stückes ist so eingängig wie zuletzt vielleicht auf dem 2001er Album „Rock Action“, klingt jedoch so, als würden die Instrumente von einem Roboter gespielt werden.

SuCh trappings of tenure and domestiCation should not, however, fool you. From his first flights as part of the punk band Squirrel Bait in his teen years to his founding membership with the ChiCago experimental musiC group Gastr del Sol to his ongoing collaborations with Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros, the Red Krayola, and many more, Grubbs is as muCh a musician as an academiC. He is also as muCh a ravenous, easily- distraCted, tiCkled-by-the-obsCure listener of the present as an exCeedingly thoughtful and eminently readable historian of sounds past. These many identities are mobilized in Grubbs’ delightful new book, Records Ruin the Landscape: John Cage, the Sixties, and Sound Recording. The book begins and ends with disCussions of his own listening experienCes, in the past as a graduate student in ChiCago slinking around the free jazz and improvised musiC scene and presently, attempting to navigate the infinitude of listening possibilities on DRAM with some semblance of disCipline. In a way, this gives the book a narrative arC.1 But the very premise of Records Ruin the Landscape is a folding — a knotting even — of temporality.

    # 2018/01 dschungel https://jungle.world/artikel/2018/01/warten-auf-das-neue-album In diesem Jahr erscheint das neue Album von The Breeders Warten auf das neue Album Von Dierk Saathoff Zehn Jahre sind vergangen, seit The Breeders ihr letztes Album veröffentlicht haben. Nun wurde ein neues für 2018 angekündigt. Die beiden Gitarre spielenden Frauen sahen sich zum Verwechseln ähnlich, auch ihre Singstimmen waren kaum voneinander zu unterscheiden. Der Moderator Conan O’Brien, in dessen Sendung dieser Auftritt 1993 stattfand, hatte die Band anhand ihrer Selbstbeschreibung angekündigt: »Just a bunch of rock chicks who like to play loud guitar music.« Und das taten die Breeders dann auch, vor einer Videoprojektion, die Menschen beim Billard zeigte, spielten sie laute Gitarrenmusik, genauer gesagt den Song »Divine Hammer«, wobei man nicht eindeutig klären kann, ob in dem Stück über einen gigantisch großen Penis oder doch über eine ­reli­giöse Erweckung gesungen wird. Über die Breeders wird durchgängig kolportiert, es handele sich bei ihnen um ein Nebenprojekt der Bassistin der Pixies, Kim Deal. Mit der Verwendung des Wortes »Nebenprojekt« geht eine Abwertung einher, eingefleischte Fans der Pixies reden sich so ein, die Mitglieder ihrer heiligen Band seien auf diese verpflichtet, wenn einer von ihnen noch in einer anderen Band involviert ist, sei das nur eine Spielerei, passiere nur ­nebenbei. Für Kim Deal war es wohl mehr als das: Genervt von den Attitüden des Sängers der Pixies, Frank Black, gründete sie 1989 wohl nicht zufällig eine fast ausschließlich aus Frauen bestehende Band, die Breeders. My Morning Jacket My Morning Jacket are perhaps the biggest band from Louisville, Kentucky, in the past decade—and the only band we know of that can unite jam band fanatics, indie rock purists, and classic rock enthusiasts alike. While all of the band’s albums are stellar, we recommend checking out their breakthrough 2003 album It Still Moves, which features “One Big Holiday,” a song that can be considered the “Free Bird” for the iTunes generation.
