As long-time enthusiasts of the fi lm, our alternate goal was to be able to fi nd, screen and preserve that lost version. This raised several questions: What are the technical and artistic merits of this specifi c version? What was the creative process? How was it critically received? And why was this version replaced in subsequent releases? The making of the first French version In the silent era, movies were usually shot with two cameras. -

The Child Voice as Social Construct Ardelle Ries University of Alberta, Alberta, Canada Sociology provides a contextual milieu for pedagogy and provides a cultural explanation for pedagogical motives and method. In the world of sociology, the figurative voices of women and other minority groups have been thoroughly examined via feminist theory dealing with the oppressor and the oppressed. Within the last 20 years, children's voices are now included in the same paradigm providing much research and writing that focuses on the agency and empowerment of children, adult control, and the plasticity of children's behaviour. From a musician's perspective, I was curious about the correlation between the figurative and literal notion of voice prompting many questions pertaining to the true nature of the child singing voice. What social attitudes exist concerning children's singing voices? Who defines the child singing voice? Who decides and what controls the acceptable nature of the child singing voice? The following logic is used to place the child singing voice within a social context: • The human singing voice embodies and reflects the society and culture that surrounds it. • The human singing voice can be creative and original, but it also imitates and mirrors the predominant society or culture in which it resides. • Because childhood is a stage or time of life created within a societal and cultural framework, the child singing voice can consequently be considered a reflection of childhood within society. • As Western society changes, so do attitudes toward children and their childhoods; therefore, perceptions of the child singing voice change alongside shifting attitudes toward children and childhood within society. -

Frozen and the Evolution of the Disney Heroine
It’s a Hollywood blockbuster animation that is set to become one of the most successful and beloved family films ever made. And unlike much of Disney’s past output, writes MICHELLE LAW, this film brings positive, progressive messages about gender and difference into the hearts and minds of children everywhere. It won this year’s Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song (for ‘Let It Go’), and despite being released less than six months Sago, it has already grossed over US$1 billion worldwide, making it the highest-earning Disney-animated film of all time. At the time of printing, the film’s soundtrack has also spent eleven non- consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard charts, the most held by a soundtrack since Titanic (James Cameron, 1997). Following the success of Frozen – and Tangled (Nathan Greno & Byron Howard, 2010), Disney’s adaptation of the Rapunzel story – many are antici- pating the dawn of the second Disney animation golden age. The first was what has come to be known as the Disney Renaissance, the period from the late 1980s to the late 1990s when iconic animated films such asThe Little Mermaid (Ron Clements & John Musker, 1989) and Aladdin (Ron Clements & John Musker, 1992) – films that adopted the structure and style of Broadway musicals – saved the company from financial ruin. -

The Story of the Ink and Paint Department
University of Wyoming The Story of the Ink and Paint Department Honors College Project Emma Thielk 5-10-2018 Thielk 1 Table of Contents Introduction………………………………………………………………………………………. 2 How They Were Viewed in the Past………………………………………………………………9 The Walt Disney Family Museum……………………………………………………………….22 Ink & Paint: The Women of Walt Disney’s Animation…………………………………………..42 Conclusion……………………………………………………………………………………….70 Bibliography……………………………...……………………………………………………...73 Thielk 2 Introduction Animations such as Silly Symphonies, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Pinocchio, the move to the current Burbank Studios, as well as many technological innovations defined the golden years of the Disney Studio. Innovations included the use of color in the first fully animated short, Flowers and Trees1, followed by the first full length animated colored feature film, Snow White2. To increase efficiency, the studio had departments that did the same job, like an assembly line. The Ink and Paint department was one such department which included making and mixing the paint colors used to ink and paint every cel photographed for the final film. This department, unlike others, was staffed and run only by females, which was very different from the cultural norms of 1920s-1940s. This department was huge, close to 100 girls working there at one point, and existed until the 60s or 70s when it was eliminated by the introduction of the Xerox machine3; not much was saved through documentation or artifacts for this time-period so there is not a lot known about this department. The Ink and Paint department has been mostly forgotten about in Disney history because it is obsolete for the work being done in present day and wasn’t as glamorous as the Animation department. -
ABSTRACT Starting from an interest in social inequalities, it has been set out the objective of studying which influence has the education in the values that will belong to the children’s ideological basis, who will become the future society. Focusing the project on the gender, it has been investigated about the school and extracurricular “coeducation”, the methodology that watches over the equality of opportunities between genders. From this point, the coeducation strategies of the different types of school depending on their management and confession and the conclusion that has been reached is that, even though there are differences, all the educational system should do a general reform and go for the equitable justice in the schools. 1 Taula de contingut INTRODUCCIÓ ............................................................................................................. 4 INTRODUCCIÓ A LA COEDUCACIÓ .....................................................................
