What a year it has been for the marine industry in New Jersey. Shortly before my tenure as President of the Association began, NJ suffered from the impact of Hurricane Sandy which was devastating for so many of us. During the days and weeks following, I witnessed our members coming together giving help to those who were less fortunate or to those who just needed a hand. Since that day we have seen the rebuilding of the marine industry slowly take place with the construction and repair of buildings and docks all while trying to get their customers ready for the season. The DEP, DOT, MVC and NJSP all worked tirelessly to get the waterways clean of debris, channels marked, abandoned boats removed to ensure there would be a 2013 boating season. In March of 2013, we held our biennial conference which was attended by over 100 members. In light of all that happened from the storm, the event was a huge success thanks to our conference presenters, sponsors and exhibitors. Through all that occurred this year I have learned a few things: Our members and friends are our greatest resource. There is only one thing in life we can truly control: Our attitude. Acknowledgement of the dedication of our members and friends together will continue to ensure the success of the marine industry for years to come. This year, the MTA/NJ will once again will be hosting two boat shows the: Jersey Shore Boat Sale and Expo at First Energy Park in Lakewood NJ “Home of the Lakewood Blue Claws” September 20th -22nd 2013 and New Jersey Boat Sale and Expo at the Edison Convention Center in Edison NJ, February 20th - 23rd 2014. This year we are expecting to see those boaters who decided to sit out the season and have that desire to get back on the water next season. If you are interested in exhibiting, don’t delay; reserve your space now if you haven’t already. Finally, I would like to thank the consumers who patronize our members busi- nesses and all of our members for their continued support. Sincerely, Fred Brueggemann MTA/NJ President Directory Updates at mtanj.org 3 About The Marine Trades Association of New Jersey Established in 1972, the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey (MTA/NJ) is a non-profit trade organization dedicated to advancing, promoting and protecting the recreational marine industry and waterways in New Jersey. The MTA/NJ is dedicated to promoting the interests of the industry as a whole for the benefit of its individual members and the consumers whom they serve. The MTA/NJ maintains a year round fully staffed office representing the interests of the industry and providing assistance and information to members, marine businesses and the boating public. The MTA/NJ staff is available to assist marine businesses and boaters with questions and to provide guidance in solving boating and marine-related problems. The MTA/NJ has an aggressive approach to legislative issues, lobbying and governmental relations through its lobbyist from State House Strategies in Trenton. The MTA/NJ is very active in the movement, opposition and/or consideration of many pieces of legislation involving the recreational boating industry. The MTA/NJ meets frequently with legislators from all districts to raise awareness and support of the recreational boating industry and fight for the rights of its members and recreational marine businesses helping them to grow and prosper in the State of NJ. The MTA/NJ spends a significant amount of time and resources promoting the boating industry and member businesses to ensure that boating continues to grow. This is done through strategic advertising, marketing, promotions, special events and annual campaigns designed to get more people out on the water and into boating. In 2013 the MTA/NJ launched a new campaign, Go Boating NJ, to provide boaters with accurate, current information on the condition of New Jersey’s waterways post Hurricane Sandy. The Go Boating NJ campaign also highlights, through on the water videos and photos, some of NJ’s most popular boating areas. For more information, visit goboatingnj.orgThe MTA/NJ also works hard to communicate the economic importance of the boating industry. Recreational boating in New Jersey has a $2 billion annual economic impact and provides close to 18,000 jobs. The MTA/NJ owns and produces two boat shows, the Jersey Shore Boat Sale & Expo held at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood in September and the New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo held at the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center in Edison in February. The MTA/NJ is committed to making sure that there are affordable and successful local boat shows to support New Jersey’s boat dealer members as well as all those that provide related goods and services. These shows are the result of that commitment and will not only help dealers and members sell their products and services but will help to strengthen the Association and the entire industry. More information about these events can be found at JerseyBoatExpo.com.The MTA/NJ also proudly endorses the Progressive Insurance Atlantic City Boat Show held in February. The MTA/NJ offers a variety of educational

800.275.2840 MORE NEWS» insideradio.com THE MOST TRUSTED NEWS IN RADIO WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2014 Study uncovers big opportunity for radio to tap email marketing budgets. There’s good news for broadcasters that have built monetizable listener email databases. A survey of nearly 400 marketers conducted by email marketing services provider StrongView shows continued reliance on email marketing for 2015. More than nine in ten (93%) marketers report their email marketing budget is either staying the same or increasing for the 2014-2015 holiday shopping season. According to StrongView, email marketing remains the top target for increased investment in 2015. In terms of overall marketing budgets, 54% of brands will see an increase and a third of those will be increasing it by more than 10% over 2014. While it may be considered slightly old school, email was already the radio industry’s second fastest growing digital channel in 2014, according to Borrell Associates, up 40% to $89 million. Should it continue at its current rate, it will surpass streaming audio as radio’s second biggest producer of digital dollars. “Email is one of the larger opportunities for radio, if not the largest,” Borrell Associates CEO Gordon Borrell says. Stations have used loyalty programs and contests to build robust email databases. The next step is segmenting them to learn more about the individuals on the list to deliver more targeted audiences for advertisers. Real-time marketing is the latest trend email marketers are exploiting. It allows individual personalization based on an opener’s location, weather, temperature or device type to build real-time context.

www.app.com | Printer-friendly article page Page 1 of 1 January 19, 2009 Proud NJ radio station is No. 1 By MAUREEN NEVIN DUFFY Arbitron Inc. issued its latest quarterly listener ratings for the fall (October, November, and December of 2008), on Jan. 8, and once again Millennium Radio's WKXW-FM, better known as NJ101.5 — "Not New York, not Pennsylvania, but New Jersey" — is No. 1 in Monmouth and Ocean counties with a fall rating of 7.6, which is up form the Fall '07 rating of 7.2. NJ101.5 is home to Jim Gearhart, the morning drive personality who gets everyone's blood boiling with the latest rant against Jersey politics, The Jersey Guys, Casey Bartholomew and Ray Rossi, who banter away like high school jocks in the afternoon and often made headlines last year, and Big Joe Henry, whose weekend shows attract a supersize following. Radio Somewhere wrote this report within 24 hours of Arbitron's post. We'll try to get more details as to how different time slots at the stations figured in the ratings when we get those breakdowns. We also invite stations to weigh in on their interpretations of the survey results. The others in the Top 10 are: 2. WWZY-FM Press Communications, which operates The Breeze 107.1 and 90.7 with a rating of 6.0, up from 4.3 in fall 2007. 3. WABC-AM Talk Radio 77, owned by Citadel, rose to 5.8 from 4.5. 4. WFAN-AM CBS's Sports Radio got a 3.9, down from 4.4 in '07.
