Monday 17 October 2011: pre‐day for Youth Delegates The programme of the 7th UNESCO Youth Forum begins with a capacity‐building pre‐day focusing on leadership and communication skills for the youth delegates. The workshops will be organized by UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and Academy Award Winner, Forest Whitaker (morning session), by UNESCO, the International Youth Foundation and the Inter‐American Development Bank (afternoon sessions). The pre‐ day will also include a briefing session for the youth delegates and the election of the Youth Forum Drafting Committee.

4:30pm‐ Setting the stage: briefing session for youth delegates Room XI 6:00pm: The briefing session will provide an opportunity to introduce the youth delegates to the objectives, the agenda and the format of the Forum and to elect one youth delegate per region to participate in the Drafting Committee of the Youth Forum and of two youth delegates to present the report of the Youth Forum to the UNESCO General Conference.

6:00pm‐ Young agents of change – Inter‐American Development Bank Room XI 7:00pm The IDB YOUTH Program of the Inter‐American Development Bank will host a session on Youth as Agents of Change, a program developed in partnership with MTV Latin America that has now expanded to MTV Tres ‐US Latino Market‐. The program recognizes the contributions to development that thousands of young people are making on daily basis. During the session the six simple steps to be an agent of change will be shared.

Breaking through employment barriers This discussion will focus both on the skills (life skills; technical and vocational skills; employability skills) and the opportunities (job placements for youth; internships; social and economic entrepreneurial schemes) to support the constructive participation of youth in the economic life of their communities and their countries. It will also examine gender‐related barriers to employment and the challenge of access to employment opportunities, deriving from non‐inclusive practices.

Thursday 20 October: setting a new youth agenda The last day of the Youth Forum will be devoted to the adoption of the Final Report to be presented at the 36th UNESCO General Conference by the youth delegates and to discussing the way forward following the International Year of Youth, with key partners, youth organizations and UN agencies.
