Christine (Frassica) Scaplen, CHS ‘87

Back in town barely a day after returning from a mini vacation to with her two sons, you can still hear the excitement in Christine Scaplen’s voice through her cell phone.

“It was great. We just like to explore and kind of go off the beaten path,” says Scaplen, a 1987 graduate of CHS, who back then was known as Christine Frassica. “My kids (Sean is CHS freshman and Timothy’s a sixth-grader at Parker School) really love good food, which is a nice thing, because so do I.”

A year earlier, the family’s trip to the Big Apple included a visit with a renowned graffiti artist in lower Manhattan to help satiate Tim’s passion for the art. A visit to Little Italy quenched all their appetites.

“It’s nice to get the kids away from the routine and force them to interact together,” says Scaplen, adding that next year she’ll look for a new venue.

It is this adventurous spirit and her Energizer-Bunny-esque personality that friends and colleagues say drive Scaplen in all she takes on, whether

NEW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED

The Liza Crowley Memorial Scholarship This spring the Chelmsford Educational Community lost an exceptional educator when Liza Crowley, English teacher at the high school from 1997 – 2004, lost her incredibly courageous battle with breast cancer. Her fellow educators have established a scholarship, to be given each year, in her name. Liza was a gifted teacher for all students, but particularly for those who struggled. Her intelligence, grace, work ethic and famous sense of humor ushered many students through successful academic careers at CHS.
