Lower Canada College Bios of Board Members (2011-2012) David H. Arditi ʹ65 (Chair, Board of Governors) David is the President and CEO of MIP Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of health care textiles and pressure relief mattresses, which are sold around the world. Previously, he had spent 20 years with Peerless Carpet Corporation, a public Company and Canada’s largest manufacturer of broadloom carpeting. David is a graduate of Lower Canada College and McGill University and is also a Chartered Accountant. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Priva Inc., a public Company which sells waterproof and absorbent products to retailers around the world, as well as a member of the Advisory Board of Medicom, a manufacturer and distributor of enhanced dental and medical professional-use supplies. He is the Past Chairman of the Young Presidents Organization, was the Treasurer of the Forest and Stream Club, President of the Canadian Carpet Institute, and a founding member of the Advisory Board of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival. He was also one of the organizers of the Montreal Referendum Rally. Currently, he serves on the St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation Board, where he is a member of the Finance Committee and the Golf Tournament Committee, which he chaired in 2004 and 2005. David and his wife Peggy have five children, Jeff, Jennifer, Ryan ‘96, Alexandra ‘06 and Brittany ‘08 and Pre-U ‘09. Olga Assaly Olga is the Past Chair of the LCC Parent Association, following a decade of outstanding volunteer service for the School. She is presently part of the Leadership Development Council and the Advancement Committee. In 1999, she became a volunteer at the LCC Store and took over as Chair from 2000 to 2007 and contributed to record sums for the LCC Bursary Fund. Olga has also been actively involved in the Staff Appreciation event as well as LCC’s Grandparents’ Day. After holding various administrative and managerial positions for S. Rossy Inc., Olga became part of the team that transformed this successful family business into the retail phenomenon called Dollarama. She and her husband Leonard are Co-Chairs of the LCC Capital Campaign. Olga was the Chair of our very successful “LCC Roar Fundraising Gala” that raised close to $500,000. In the spring of 2006, after being touched by breast cancer, Olga became involved in the “Weekend to End Breast Cancer”. She formed a team known as “Olga’s Butterflies” and has raised significant funds to date for this special cause. Olga and her husband Leonard have 3 children – Andrew ‘06, Laurie ‘08 and Jeremy ‘14. Bios of Board Members (2011-2012) Page 2 Randy Aziz ʹ77 Randy is Vice President and co-founder of Creations Cindy Ann Inc., a ladies undergarment importer and manufacturer, established in 1985. He is a member of numerous committees at The Royal Montreal Golf Club, is current club champion, and is a past Chair of the Board of Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Economics and is an alumnus of LCC – class of 1977. Randy and his wife Lynn (former Chair of the LCC Parents’ Association) have three children, David ‘07 and Pre-U ‘08, Laura ‘09 and Jacqueline ’12. Philip Belec ʹ77 Philip is the President and Founder of Ben-Jac Capital Inc., a financial services firm specializing in helping successful business owners plan for the eventual transition and succession of their business. Previously, he spent five years with Mobius International in the film production and distribution business. Philip is a graduate of Lower Canada College and The University of Western Ontario. He is a past-president of the LCC Alumni Association, a member of the LCC Corporation and a Director of the LCC Foundation. Philip has extensive not-for-profit experience including The Action Centre (Board member), Sarah Cook Fund (Board Member), Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation (ABC Ball Committee Member), Cedar’s Cancer Institute (Committee Member), Mount Bruno Country Club (Committee Member), Montreal Rackets Club (Board Member), Conference for Advanced Life Underwriters – CALU -(Board Member) and member of the LCC Capital Campaign Committee. Philip is married to Anna and they have two children who are enrolled at LCC – Ben ‘10 and P.J. ‘12. Anne-Marie Boucher Anne-Marie Boucher is a lawyer who graduated in 1989 from University of Montreal (LLB) and obtained a Masters in Tax from the University of Sherbrooke in 1991. She practiced tax, commercial and corporate law at the firm known as BCF until 2000, when she became director of Training and Education at the Quebec Tax Association. At the same time, she also taught tax and estate planning at the Masters in Tax programs of L'Ecole des HEC, and the University of Sherbrooke, as well as the Diplôme de Droit Notarial at the University of Montreal. Between 2001-2003 Anne-Marie was also asked to join a group of Canadian Tax specialists including both the Ministers of Revenue of Quebec and Canada to advise and assist the Brazilian government on its tax reform. In 2005 Anne-Marie was elected counselor in the city of Hampstead and was entrusted with the finance portfolio. In 2006 Anne-Marie and her family moved to Europe for nearly 3 years. She recently re-joined the law firm BCF focusing on estate planning and high net worth structuring. She currently sits on the St. Mary's Hospital Foundation board, and is also involved with a number of other charities in Canada, Europe and Israel. She is married to Mitch Garber, and they have two sons, Dylan '12 and Ryan '17. Bios of Board Members (2011-2012) Page 3 Donna Doherty Fraser Donna graduated from Queen’s University in 1982 with a B.A. Honours in Economics. She spent the next few years living in Toronto and working in the securities industry. In 1986, Donna moved back to Montreal where she worked as a corporate foreign exchange dealer for the Royal Bank of Canada. In 1997, Donna completed an MBA and has since worked part time for Fraser Furniture. Other activities include involvement in a number of sports, cultural activities and volunteer work. Donna has been involved at LCC through the LCC Parents’ Association and as a member of two Board Committees (Advancement and Communications). Donna and her husband Ross have 3 sons - Sean ‘07, Jordan ‘08, and Kevin ‘12. Doug Lewin ʹ87 Doug is the Vice President of Harrah's Interactive Entertainment, a Montreal based subsidiary of Harrah's Entertainment Inc., the world’s largest gaming company. Prior to joining Harrah's, Doug was the CEO of Optimal Payments, a NASDAQ listed credit card and check processing company. A 1987 graduate of LCC, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Babson College where he was a member of the school’s 1992 NCAA Frozen Four hockey team. Doug is a founding member and current chairman of Kids for Kids, a local charity that raises money for Montreal based children in need. He also sits on the board of the Sarah Cook Foundation. At LCC, Doug is a member of the Corporation and has served on the school’s Alumni Association Committee from 2005- present and is a member of the school's Capital Campaign Committee. He and his wife Brina have three children at LCC - Matthew ‘17, Zach ‘20 and Justin ‘20. Janice Naymark Janice Naymark is a native Montrealer who graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Law in 1986 with both her B.C.L. and LL.B degrees. She was called to the Quebec bar in 1987 and has been practicing law with the firm of Spiegel Sohmer Inc. since 1987. As a senior partner in the commercial/corporate law group at Spiegel Sohmer Inc., Janice’s practice is focused on acquisitions and sales of businesses. She has acted as an advisor to both individual directors and boards of directors of numerous corporations, both public and private. Janice served on the LCC Government Relations Committee in 2005-2006. She is married to Stephen Hamilton (LCC class of 1978) and they have three children currently attending LCC, Andrew ‘13, Michael ‘16 and William ‘19. Bios of Board Members (2011-2012) Page 4 Amin Noorani Amin Noorani is an Executive Recruiter and recruits primarily for the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). He is involved in the recruiting of mid-management and senior level professionals with a focus on candidates from North America. He has a broad working experience, having worked with some of Canada's and the US's most well- respected companies including Raymond Chabot Grant Thornton, Abitibi Consolidated, GE Capital and CAE. Amin is a graduate of Lower Canada College. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting/MIS and his Graduate Diploma in Public Accountancy, from McGill University. He received his Chartered Accountancy Designation in 1993. Amin is a member in good standing of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Order of Chartered Accountants of Quebec. Amin enjoys volunteering and giving back to the community. He participates annually in the World Partnership Walk held in conjunction with the Aga Khan Foundation Canada. He was one of the 2004 Recipients of the MS Leadership Award from the Canadian Society of Multiple Sclerosis – Quebec Division. He is a member of the University Club of Montreal, a private club, where he sits on Council. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Marianopolis Millennium Foundation. At LCC, Amin is a member of the Corporation and has served as a past/ongoing member of the Finance Committee, the Advancement Committee and as a member of the Alumni Executive.
