This price surge, however, did not take place evenly in space and time. To better understand the spatial and temporal behavior of land prices, we employ a price diffusion model that combines features of market integration models and spatial econometric models. An application of this model to farmland prices in Germany shows that prices on a county-level are cointegrated. Apart from convergence towards a long- run equilibrium, we find that price transmission also proceeds through short-term adjustments caused by neighboring regions.     Neuharlingersiel , Samtgemeinde Esens, Landkreis Wittmund 1. Lage und Siedlungsform Der Sielort wurde auf Kalkmarsch in einer Höhe von 1,6 - bis 1,9 m über Meeresniveau (NN) gegründet. Südlich und westlich ist aber auch ein kleines Gebiet mit Kleimarsch zu finden. Die Streusiedlung befindet sich direkt an der L6 etwa vier Kilometer nördlich von Werdum und acht Kilometer nordöstlich von Esens. 2. Vor- und Frühgeschichte 3. Ortsname Der Siel- und Badeort mit dem 1693 erbauten Siel wurde erstmals 1787 als „Neu- Harrlingersyhl“ urkundlich erfasst. Der Name bezeichnet einen Siel im Gebiet der Harle (s. Harlesiel). Das germanische Kollektivsuffix -ing konnte nicht nur an Personennamen, sondern auch an topographische Bezeichnungen treten (vgl. Butjadingen, Overledingen, Östringen, Rüstringen). 4. Geschichtlicher Überblick a. Entwicklung der Gemeinde bis zur Weimarer Republik Der hier liegende Siel ist, wie schon oben erwähnt, zuerst im Jahre 1693 hier angelegt, F nachdem er früher wohl ¾ Stunde weiter östlich gelegen, aber weil das Watt draußen zu hoch ward, daselbst nicht erhalten werden konnte. F Jetzt liegt er an einem um so günstigeren Ort, indem der geräumige Hafen hier, nebenbei der nördlichste des ganzen Landes, durchaus kein Vorland hat, sondern unmittelbar an der Küste liegt, wie etwa nur der zu Greetsiel. Gönnen wir ihm, dass er den Ort zu immer größerer Bedeutung erheben und von den mehr als 60 Schiffen, die das Amt besitzt, F recht viele mit des Landes Produkten beladen von hier aus ihren Weg in die Nord- und Ostsee suchen mögen. Auch die Einwohner dieses Ortes gehören zur Kirche von Berdum. Unweit des Siels besuchen wir noch den Tummeldeichs-Kolk, der durch Einbruch der See 1636 entstanden und noch immer nicht wieder eingedeicht ist.

In Germany, the last outbreak was in the late 80’s and little is known about the economic consequences of different mitigation strategies. For this reason, a static epidemiological and economic model was created using geo-reference data on municipality level. The model needs epidemiological input about infected premises, the size of movement re- striction zones and the duration of epidemic events. FMD epidemics for two animal dense regions in northwest Germany, the Jade-Weser region and the County of Grafschaft Bent- heim, were simulated and its costs analysed. In collaboration with epidemiologists of the veterinary authorities, three different scenarios were designed for each of the two strategies and regions (a best case, a probable/medium case and a worst case). In the economic model part, the costs were estimated for farmers and for the animal disease fund (the authorities). Thereby, the costs were divided into the categories Direct Costs (DC), Direct Consequen- tial Costs (DCC) and Indirect Consequential Costs (ICC).
