Reed played for 16 NFL seasons, 15 with the Buffalo Bills (1985–1999) and one with the Washington Redskins in 2000 when he retired. After being eligible for eight years, Reed was selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014. Reed ranks twelfth in NFL history in total career receptions with 951. In 2009, Reed was elected to the Buffalo Bills 50th Season All-Time Team. In his four Super Bowls, Reed recorded 27 receptions, the second most total career Super Bowl receptions in NFL history. His 323 total Super Bowl receiving yards are the third most in Super Bowl history. Reed ranks near the top in nearly all NFL career statistical receiving categories. He went over 1000 yards four times in a 16-year career, is tenth in NFL history in total career receptions with 951 ninth in NFL history in total career receiving yards with 13,198. Reed is also eleventh in NFL history in total career touchdown receptions with 87. He also rushed for 500 yards and a touchdown on 75 carries. With the Bills, Reed played in four consecutive Super Bowls (1991–1994) and was selected to the Pro Bowl in seven consecutive seasons (1988–1994). A tribute to his incredible physical durability, Reed played in 234 NFL games between 1985 and 2000, the 59th most games played by any player in NFL history, including players in less physically demanding positions, such as kickers and punters. From #83s on the field and off the field efforts he was inducted into Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s Hall of Fame in 2015. He volunteers his time as ambassador for BGC kids, by visiting local Boys & Girls Clubs wherever he goes and is grateful for this honor alongside the likes of Denzel Washington, Jennifer Lopez, Magic Johnson, and more. /SalvationArmyCharlotte @SalArmyCLT @SalvationArmyCLT /BGCCharlotte @BGCCharlotte TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16TH | CHARLOTTE CONVENTION CENTER | 6:30 P.M. 501 S. • The 6Th Annual Fantasy Football League Draft Will Be Held on Saturday, August 12
TO ALL FFL OWNERS: The 6th annual Fantasy Football League Draft will be held on Saturday, August 12. The NFC will draft at 7:00 and the AFC will draft at 8:30. If you don't know what conference you are in then look at the standings from last year. It will be held at the my house in Loves Park, 650 Sydney Avenue. If you can not attend, please contact me as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made. We have made a number of rule changes this year so be sure to read through the rules that are contained here. The highlights are a reduction in rosters to 14 players per team, an increase in the entry fee to $25, only 4 teams making the playoffs from each conference, and expansion. We are adding 4 new teams to the league, two in each conference. The expansion teams throw a couple of new wrinkles into the league. First, we will have to realign the divisions in each conference; we are going to 3 divisions of 4 teams each. Also, there will be an additional expansion draft after all teams have protected their players. More later. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (319) 425-5421. Aaron FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAMS: Each team consists of 14 players. The players have one of four positions: quarterback, running back, receiver, and kicker. Each team will also have an injured reserve list that they may place a player on if the player is put on the injured reserve list by his NFL team.

TOPS MARKETS “Therapy” (Commercial Script) Subject Info: Tops Markets is one of the leading grocery retailers in the Northeast. Goal/Objective: There was a promotion being considered called the Tops Team which would feature former Buffalo Bills players Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Steve Tasker and Kent Hull. This spot would introduce the Tops Team to the public. Writer’s Notes: This spot was intended for a regional audience. But utilizing former Buffalo Bills players also allowed for a special connection with Buffalo Bills fans. As many people know, the Buffalo Bills of the early 90’s played in four consecutive Superbowls only to suffer heartbreak at each and every one. When I was asked to develop creative for this spot, one of the scenarios I was given was Jim (quarterback) bringing the team back together again for Tops Markets. With that in mind, I started to think that if in fact this was a viable scenario, wouldn’t there be a few issues for the former teammates to work through? Probably. Okay, then do we show them working through the issues and if so, how? Therapy. As a fan, I loved the idea. It was fun, self deprecating and a reminder of the glory years. Overall, it communicated a clear message that a team was coming together and that it was an extension of Tops. ©2007, John Takacs TOPS MARKETS “Therapy” :30 Writer: Takacs VIDEO AUDIO CU - nerdy THERAPIST from patient’s Therapist: It’s true, time does heal all perspective. wounds. • BUFFALO BILLS Team History
PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2020-2021 EDITIOn QUARTERBACK JIM KELLY - hall of fame class of 2002 BUFFALO BILLS Team History The Buffalo Bills began their pro football life as the seventh team to be admitted into the new American Football League. The franchise was awarded to Ralph C. Wilson on October 28, 1959. Since that time, the Bills have experienced extended periods of both championship dominance and second-division frustration. The Bills’ first brush with success came in their fourth season in 1963 when they tied for the AFL Eastern division crown but lost to the Boston Patriots in a playoff. In 1964 and 1965 however, they not only won their division but defeated the San Diego Chargers each year for the AFL championship. Head Coach Lou Saban, who was named AFL Coach of the Year each year, departed after the 1965 season. Buffalo lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the 1966 AFL title game and, in doing so, just missed playing in the first Super Bowl. Then the Bills sank to the depths, winning only 13 games while losing 55 and tying two in the next five seasons. Saban returned in 1972, utilized the Bills’ superstar running back, O. J. Simpson, to the fullest extent and made the Bills competitive once again. That period was highlighted by the 2,003-yard rushing record set by Simpson in 1973. But Saban departed in mid-season 1976 and the Bills again sank into the second division until a new coach, Chuck Knox, brought them an AFC Eastern division title in 1980.

  • Andre Reed and the Hall of Fame a Way of Evaluating Pass Receivers
THE COFFIN CORNER: Vol. 19, No. 5 (1997) Andre Reed and the Hall of Fame A Way of Evaluating Pass Receivers By Keith Joyner I was watching a Denver-Buffalo Monday Night Football game about three years ago and heard something that made my ears perk up. After Andre Reed made a catch for a first down, Dan Dierdorf said that most people would be amazed to find out that Reed had 600 pass receptions, and he suggested that with that number of catches, Reed was probably headed for the Hall of Fame. I have to admit that I was surprised that Andre Reed had that many receptions. The Hall of Fame comment took me by surprise as well. I had never considered Andre Reed a potential Hall of Fame candidate, so I decided to examine the issue further. In reviewing Andre Reed's Hall of Fame qualifications, I always come back to Bill James. Ever since I was a teenager, I have been reading James' baseball books, and a constant theme in his books is perspective. Anytime he reviews a player, team, or era, he always tries to maintain historical perspective. In reviewing a ballplayer, he will try to view the player's accomplishments in relation to the other players of the era. If many ballplayers hit .350 (as happened during the 1920's) hitting .350 isn't as significant an accomplishment as hitting .350 in an era where no one else does (as happened in the 60's) One of the first issues I thought I had to face in determining whether or not Andre Reed's stats were of Hall of Fame caliber was the issue of perspective.
