TO ALL FFL OWNERS: The 6th annual Fantasy Football League Draft will be held on Saturday, August 12. The NFC will draft at 7:00 and the AFC will draft at 8:30. If you don't know what conference you are in then look at the standings from last year. It will be held at the my house in Loves Park, 650 Sydney Avenue. If you can not attend, please contact me as soon as possible so that other arrangements can be made. We have made a number of rule changes this year so be sure to read through the rules that are contained here. The highlights are a reduction in rosters to 14 players per team, an increase in the entry fee to $25, only 4 teams making the playoffs from each conference, and expansion. We are adding 4 new teams to the league, two in each conference. The expansion teams throw a couple of new wrinkles into the league. First, we will have to realign the divisions in each conference; we are going to 3 divisions of 4 teams each. Also, there will be an additional expansion draft after all teams have protected their players. More later. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at (319) 425-5421. Aaron FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE TEAMS: Each team consists of 14 players. The players have one of four positions: quarterback, running back, receiver, and kicker. Each team will also have an injured reserve list that they may place a player on if the player is put on the injured reserve list by his NFL team. Trades are encouraged, but must be within your conference. You cannot trade with anyone in the other conference. There will be 24 teams in all, with two conferences (AFC, NFC) made up of 12 teams each. Each conference will have three divisions (EAST, CENTRAL, WEST) of four teams each. DRAFT: The draft last for 12 rounds. Each conference will draft separately. Before the draft each team chooses a card that will determine their draft number. The order in which teams pick will flip-flop every round. Ex: If your draft number is a 6, then you will choose 6th in round one and 4th in round two. Draft picks may be traded if you want, but you may only have 14 players on your team. Each team must protect two players from their previous year's roster. A team may protect a third player by forfeiting their first round pick. SCORING: 1 point is scored for every 10 yards rushing or pass receiving or 20 yards passing that a player has. Kickers score 1 point for every extra point and 3 points for every field goal. LINEUPS: Every week, each team must choose a starting lineup. There are two choices: 1 quarterback, 2 running backs, 3 receivers, and 1 kicker OR 1 quarterback, 1 running back, 4 receivers, and 1 kicker. The subs are then listed in order for use in tiebreakers and for replacing players that cannot play. Since everyone will be spread out, the lineup from the previous week will be used unless a new one is called in to the commissioner. If you want to make any changes they must be done before the first game of the week. Each NFL team has a bye this year, so if one of your starters has a bye then the first sub at that position will be inserted. Also if a player does not play because of injury then the first sub will be inserted. I MUST HAVE YOUR OPENING DAY LINEUP BY SEPTEMBER 3! GAMES: The scores for each player in a team's starting lineup are added together and then compared to the score of the opposing team. If the two teams are tied then the first sub for each team is compared to find the winner. If there is still a tie then each succeeding sub is compared. SCHEDULE: The regular season consists of 14 weeks. Each team will play the other 3 teams in their division twice and the other 8 teams in their conference. After the regular season ends then the playoffs begin. A schedule will be sent to you before the season begins. One is not included here because we do not know who will be in which division. PLAYOFFS: The three division winners and the top wildcard make the playoffs which begin in week 15. The brackets for the playoffs are shown below: NFC #1 AFC #1 ----------------- ----------------- | | (1) |----------------- ---------------- | (3) NFC #4 | | | | AFC #4 ----------------- | | ----------------- NFC #2 (5) |-----------------| (6) AFC #2 ----------------- | (7) | ----------------- | | | | (2) |----------------- ---------------- | (4) NFC #3 | | AFC #3 ----------------- ----------------- The tie-breakers to determine who makes the playoffs and the seedings in the playoffs are: 1. Best record. 2. Most points scored during regular season. 3. Head to Head competition. 4. Best record in division. 5. Most points allowed. 6. Coin flip. MONEY: Each team contributes $25 at the beginning of the season to be used for fees and prize money. The winner of the Superbowl receives $150, the loser of the Superbowl receives $100, the losers of the Conference Championships receive $75, and losers in the divisional round receive $25. BYES: Each NFL team has a bye sometime during the season. Each week that has a team with a bye is listed below along with the teams that have a bye. Week 4: Buffalo, Carolina, Indianapolis, Miami, New England, Seattle Week 5: Chicago, Detroit, Green Bay, Minnesota Week 6: Atlanta, New Orleans, St. Louis, San Francisco Week 7: Cincinnati, Cleveland, Houston, Pittsburgh Week 8: Arizona, Dallas, NY Giants, Philadelphia Week 9: Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, San Diego Week 10: Jacksonville, Tampa Bay Week 11: NY Jets, Washington EXPANSION: In order to expand this year we had to add a pre-draft for the expansion teams. After all current teams have protected their players, then each expansion team will be allowed to pick two players so that they are even with everyone. These pre-picks may not be used for rookies. TRADES: Trades are allowed and encouraged within your own conference. Please be sure to inform the commissioner as soon as a trade is finalized. When trading draft picks each team must end up with the same number of draft picks. So if you trade for someone's 2nd round pick then you give them your last pick by default. Also, if you trade your first round pick then you can only protect 2 players the following year. TOP 50 RUNNING BACKS TOP 50 RECEIVERS 1. Barry Sanders DET 1. Jerry Rice SF 2. Chris Warren SEA 2.
