First Saturday Devotion, June 3, at Our Lady Our First Saturday Devotion, June 3, at Our Lady 12: Sun – Thur, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. (Be sure to pack a Our Lady at Fatima requested that we go to Mass, lunch and snacks for your children.) For one thing, Christian mention of the `Holy Spirit’ would neither have been considered unique nor heretical by the rabbis.” Alan F. Segal2 Prolegomena This essay is the first chapter in a monograph on the theology of the Holy Spirit until the time of Tertullian and Origen. The thesis of the book is that early Christian pneumatology continues and develops Jewish pneumatology; for “the first two hundred years of Christianity”3 Jewish pneumatology is the accepted theological idiom for Christian reflection upon the nature and characteristic work of the Holy Spirit. A further point made in the book is that it is more accurate to speak of early Christian pneumatologies derived from Jewish pneumatologies: there were a variety of understandings of the nature, work (or effect), and significance of the Holy Spirit in Judaism and this variety continues in the first two hundred years of Christianity. The book’s division of chapters follows the identification of these different pneumatologies in Judaism and Christianity: thus the book covers Creator Pneumatology, Wisdom Pneumatology, Angelomorphic Pneumatology, Consort Pneumatology, etc., in their original Jewish expressions and their continuing presence in Christianity.4 The final component of the book’s thesis is that Jewish pneumatology as the accepted theological idiom for Christian reflection on the Holy Spirit – the fact of a dominant Jewish-Christian pneumatology – comes to an end with the generation of Tertullian and Origen.

They prayed with one heart and persevered in prayer, waiting for the coming of the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, that was promised them, and that filled them "when the time of Pentecost was fulfilled" (Ac 2,1). Since then, Novenas have become a frequent practice in the tradition of the Church. Also in Medjugorje, Our Lady calls us: "Dear children, offer novenas, making sacrifices wherein you feel the most bound." (July 25, 1993) How to pray this Novena? One special intention is devoted to each day.
