Abstract Elections are a social phenomenon that enables the society to promote good leadership which is an important dynamic process that reflects the credibility and validity of political agendas. The motive of this evaluation is to present with a preassessment on the political situation of Sialkot city for the General Elections 2018. Past statistical profile reveals the prolonged domination of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) throughout the series of past few elections, but the momentous development of Pakistan Tahreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is considered to be defaming the former. Facts and figures of political ground of Sialkot have been collected and systematically organized by use of valid Statistical approaches of higher confidence level. -
Pakistan – July 2018
PAKISTAN – JULY 2018 KEY REFORMS FOR PAKISTAN’S REAL ESTATE SECTOR HIT A SNAG ........................................................................ 1 Key reforms for Pakistan’s real estate sector hit a snag Pakistan’s efforts to curb the use of black money in the real estate sector, and enhance its tax collection have been dealt a serious blow. The country’s bureaucracy has halted implementation on two key reforms, which were introduced by the last PML-N government. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has delayed the notification for the establishment of Directorate General of Immovable Properties that could have given authorities the first right to acquire assets that were undervalued to evade taxes. It has also not increased the property valuation rates in big cities as an alternate to the DG Immovable Properties. But the FBR says that it alone cannot take these measures and will require support from the four provinces. These two reforms had been introduced by former finance minister Ishaq Dar and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to crack down against practices that became the cause of use of black money in the real estate sector. The former premier had taken a courageous step and introduced the concept of pre-emption right through the Finance Act 2018 that came into effect from July 1. As an incentive, Abbasi had also lowered the tax rates on purchase and sale of properties, ranging from 1% to 4%, to only 1% of the gross value of the property. Both these measures were planned to come into force at once. The scheme entitles the government to purchase any asset – residential or commercial – at 100% higher price than the one declared by the owner at the time of registration. -

Pakistan: the Heat Is on September 2017
PAKISTAN: THE HEAT IS ON SEPTEMBER 2017 As we noted earlier this year (Pakistan: Banking on Reform, May 2017), Pakistan has been a successful investment outpost for our Frontier Markets Equity strategy since its inception in 2014. We often ran an overweight position in this market over this period, in what was a positive transformative phase for the Pakistani economy. This culminated in the 2016 announcement from MSCI that the country would be reclassified as an Oliver Bell emerging market – which occurred in May this year. Portfolio Manager, Frontier Markets Equity The overwhelming majority of our positions in Pakistan have since been offloaded, Strategy as the investment thesis on these positions played out – largely due to the strong rise for the market in the lead-up to its entrance to the MSCI Emerging Markets Index. However, as we noted in our earlier update, risks have been building in the country – in both the economic and political spheres. Unfortunately, our concern was warranted, with the country’s stock market sliding in recent weeks on a number of significant negative developments. Malik Sarmad Asif Equity Analyst DETERIORATING ECONOMIC CONDITIONS While GDP growth recently came in at a 10-year high1 – largely due to the China– Pakistan Economic Corridor – the broad economic picture in Pakistan is deteriorating. Firstly, Pakistan’s current account deficit more than doubled to US$12.1bn in the year ended 30 June, largely as a result of an overvalued rupee.2 Since peaking last October, foreign reserves have also fallen by a quarter to US$14.3bn.3 The country also faces a twin deficit, with the fiscal deficit blowing out to 6% – far higher than the government anticipated.4 1 Source: State Bank of Pakistan 2 Source: State Bank of Pakistan 3 Source: State Bank of Pakistan 4 Source: Dawn, 6 September 2017 FOR INVESTMENT PROFESSIONALS ONLY. -

After Bureaucracy and Businessmen: Now Corporate Professionals Being
14th September, 2019 Ansar Abbasi After bureaucracy and businessmen: Now corporate professionals being haunted ISLAMABAD: After having been alleged of severely haunting and harassing the civil bureaucracy and business community, the NAB’s action of arresting PSO former MD Shaikh Imranul Haq has sent a serious wave of anxiety among corporate professionals in the country which, it is feared, will further hurt the already dwindling economy of the country. No less than PTI’s top leader and former finance minister Asad Umar in a TV talk show spoke very high of the integrity and repute of Shaikh Imranul Haq and admitted that the NAB decision to arrest him has shook the entire corporate sector in Pakistan. Asad Umar said that he had worked with Imranul Haq for twenty years on the basis of which he sees PSO former MD as an “outstanding professional” enjoying great integrity… “That’s the Imranul Haq I know, that’s the Imranul Haq I worked with.” Saying that the corporate professionals in the country are really disturbed with the arrest of Imranul Haq, Asad Umar questioned the very reason for the arrest of Haq by NAB. He said that no one would question the NAB if it questions the PSO’s former MD but arresting him at the stage of inquiry is really objectionable. If there is any evidence against the PSO’s former MD then, he said, the NAB should probe the matter and also include him in the inquiry but why to arrest a professional who was not running away anywhere. Asad said that although he does not know what evidence NAB has got against Imranul Haq, the NAB press release that was issued on the matter had nothing against the corporate professional. -

National Security Council of Pakistan
National Security Council of Pakistan BACKGROUND GUIDE CHAIR: Joe Reed Coy Sanchez-Sponsler Dear Honorable Delegates, I have enjoyed being a part of the Model United Nations team at Stanford, always intrigued in anything concerning politics and power dynamics and regularly deprived of it as a chemical engineering student. Less academically speaking, I pursue string and vocal music as a cellist and bass and spend as much time as I can in the making of useful and/or beautiful things. As your Chair this conference and on the behalf of the rest of the PacMUN community and staff, I would like to extend a warm welcome to PacMUN 2017. This year in particular, with a global joint-crisis format and intricate recent events to develop, we look forward to vibrant debate and conversation on the political world. Functioning as prominent contemporary political figures engaging in diplomacy and negotiations, you will have the opportunity to jointly craft the policy of the National Security Council of Pakistan, a highly influential institution welding the heavyweights of Pakistan’s military and civil government leadership. Introduction to Committee The National Security Council of Pakistan (NSC) has had a tumultuous history as an agency since its conception under General Yahya Khan in 1969. Originally a part of the office of the President and Chief Martial Law Administrator, in 1984 the NSC’s first legal mainstay, article 152A, was proposed as part of the Revival of the Constitution Order (RCO) to provide for military influence of the civil government. A large departure from the Pakistani military’s previously apolitical stance, General Zia-ul-Haq’s move drew criticism from major political factions, the NSC having been sharply curtailed in 1972 after Bhutto’s civilian rise to power in 1971.
