General Travel Tips for South Korea

Visa requirements Passport valid for a minimum of three months is required by all nationals entering South Korea.

Visas are NOT required for the following nationals: Australia, Canada, European Union, and the United States. All other nationalities should check with the closest South Korean Consulate or Embassy.

Health requirements Vaccinations are not required.

Local currency Won (KRW). Notes are in denominations of KRW50,000, 10,000, 5,000 and 1,000. Chon means ‘one thousand'. Coins are in denominations of KRW500, 100, 50 and 10.

Foreign banknotes and traveller’s checks can be exchanged at foreign exchange banks and other authorized money changers. American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa are widely accepted at major hotels, shops and restaurants in the larger cities. ATMs are available in all major cities, but not all of them will accept international cards.
