  • THE JUNKET BOOK ILK Has Been Recognized from Earliest Times As "Nature's M Most Nearly Perfect Food." It Is the Original Diet of the Race, the First Nutriment of Man
THE JUNKET BOOK ILK has been recognized from earliest times as "Nature's M most nearly perfect food." It is the original diet of the race, the first nutriment of man. There is no other food that can replace milk in the daily diet. Milk contains carbohydrates and fats which supply heat and food-energy the body needs to perform its work. It has valuable, easily assimilable proteins for tissue building and repair. The minerals in milk, particularly calcium and phos- phorus, aid in the building of sound bones and teeth. Milk is an excellent source of Vitamins A and G, and a good source of Vitamin B, which is essential for normal growth and proper functioning of the nervous system. Milk is of great value in planning the well-balanced diet, and gives these benefits at less cost than any other food. For good nutrition, a child should drink at least a quart, and an adult a pint of milk a day. Unfortunately, ordinary raw or pasteurized milk forms large curds in the stomach, which are often difficult to digest. On this account, ordinary milk frequently interferes with ap- petites of growing children, and sometimes overtaxes the diges- tive system of the sick and convalescent. This is why doctors have recommended Junket desserts* for nearly 50 years. They contain the Junket enzyme, which per- forms the first step in digestion. "Junketized"* milk digests approximately twice as fast as ordinary fresh liquid milk. Scientists now know that a glass of cold milk may be "Junketized" by dissolving half a Junket Tablet in it.

  • Kidney Stone Diet
Kidney Stone Diet The diet to control gypercalciuria is designed to reduce the formation of renal calculi primarily in cases where patients absorb and excrete a greater proportion so dietary calcium than do normal persons. This diet limits the amount of protein, sodium and oxalate to reduce high concentrations of urinary calcium and oxalate. Fluid intake should be increased to produce a urine volume of at least two liters per day. It is suggested to include two liters of water per day in cold weather and three liters per day in warm weather. Calcium intake is slightly modified to avoid excessive dietary intake. To avoid further urinary excretion of calcium, the patient is advised to eliminate use of vitamin supplements containing calcium, vitamin D or large amounts of vitamin C.
