Rostered fair helpers To all the families who have signed up to help on a roster during the day THANK YOU! There is no way that we could run a fair without your help.

To make sure that things run smoothly on the day:

 Please be on time for your shift. The people on before you will be keen to go and enjoy the fair with their children  When you arrive, make your way to the area that you have signed up for. If in doubt find someone with a yellow vest. Note that there are some layout changes—check the map at www.kpsfair.weebly.com for updates  Be aware that you may be asked to move to another stall if there is an unexpected gap  A number of people who are signed up to pack up shifts (5.00pm) are being asked to assist in the food area initially as we are short of food helpers at this time. Once the food service starts to finish up around 6.00pm we can move back to packing other areas.

If you haven’t signed up for a shift but think you could help for awhile, we would still love to have you. At this stage it would be easiest if you could sign up for the general roster, and we will find a place that needs help at the time you are available:

https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e044aa5af2faafc1-general1

We will also appreciate the assistance of anyone who can stay back and help pack up at the end of the fair. The more hands we have, the sooner we get finished! Please lend a hand if you can.

Tanoshi kata! Had so much fun! What a fantastic magical Japanese day that we had! The weather was sunny and warm. The children were marvellous, enthusiastic, polite and helpful to guests, teachers and each other. Sophie P, our super Japanese captain, started off the Opening ceremony. She greeted us in fluent Japanese and then switched to English to introduce the event’s guest and teacher presenters. We started with 12 KPS Japanese dancers dancing with Japanese music “Tokyo Bon”. There are mixed groups from Prep to Grade 6. The members in Japanese Dance group were Jana Amain(PB), Lamar Amain(2B), Abigail Allsop (2B), Sophie Park(6A), Lucy Jackson(5A), Maya It was amazing performance! Well done girls! Next, we had a sensational 5 members Wadaiko performance featuring formers and current Kerrimuir Parents. The costume parade was amazing. Not only students but also teachers were dressed up and show to the audience.

The activities were Karate, origami, Japanese game, sushi making, wadaiko and Undokai. In Sushi making, KPS super parents run the sessions for us. Students learnt how to make sushi and get an opportunity to roll the sushi with parents as well. After finished, they got to eat their own vegetarian sushi. In Karate, they learnt how to do self-defence and how to do punch, kick and block.

In origami, they learnt how to make animals, house, books and lots of different shapes. In Japanese game, they played Fukuwarai. They coloured in all the body parts and cut them off to create their own face. Grade 3 to Grade 6 they did calligraphy with Junko Sensei. Not only Junko sensei but also all KPA teachers were astonished by our KPS beautiful calligraphy.

Next, they how to play wadaiko (drums) with Toshi and Junko and students learnt how to play wadaiko and get an opportunity to play.

Many thanks to our WONDERFUL STAFF members and KPS students. They enthusiastically embraced the Japanese spirit of the event and ensured the day’s success. Special thanks to those KPS parents who helped on that day! J Arigatougozaimasita (very polite way to “thank you) to everyone involved. Michelle Haejung Park
