RELEASE NUMBER 5 (October 8, 2013) Pac-12 Mountain Network (National) | KOA-RADIO | CUBUFFS.COM (Live Stats) QUICKLY SPEAKING … The Colorado Buffaloes (2-2, 0-2 Pac-12) return to the Pac-12 road this Saturday, Oct. 12, traveling southwest to Tempe to take on the Arizona State Wildcats (3-2, 1-1 Pac-12) in an 8:07 p.m. kickoff at Sun Devil Stadium … The early forecast calls for temperatures to be in the mid-80s during the day; CU’s two previous visits to the Valley of the Sun saw it heat up to 102 degrees (2007) and to 85 degrees (2011) ... This will be just the fifth meeting between the Buffaloes and the Sun Devils, with Arizona State winning all previous four games, including 51-17 in Boulder last year ... Colorado is coming off a 57-16 loss at home to No. 2 Oregon, as the nation’s second-ranked offense was fully on display; the previous week at Oregon State; this week? Arizona State comes in 22nd in total offense and ninth in the passing game as the CU defense continues to face a parade of the nation’s top offenses continues ... Along those lines, the opponent has just 23 plays of 20 yards or longer in four games, while CU has managed 20 ... Colorado led Oregon at one point, 10-8, and was ahead of the Ducks for 6:29; UO had trailed just one time coming in, and for just 5:26 ... CU and Oregon combined for 493 yards in the first quarter, and the Buffs did have 231 of those ... The Sun Devils are coming off a 37-34 loss to Notre Dame, played at AT&T Stadium in Dallas (“Jerryworld”), a loss which knocked Arizona State out of the national ranking after it appeared at No.22 in the Associated Press poll ... He now has four on the season, the most by a player since Wheatley had five in both 2006 and 2007. Henderson is the national leader in interceptions, averaging 1.00 per game. OBSCURE NOTE OF THE WEEK Touchdowns have been scarce in the red zone in Colorado games this season, particularly for the Buffs. CU has just one touchdown in nine trips when penetrating the opponent 20-yard line, though is 7-of-7 on field goals; the lone miss came on downs against Oregon.
