The average yield was estimated according to the total number of plots of land utilized for cultivation. The phytochemicals present in these samples were evaluated for their presence. Overall features affecting the growth and yield were interpreted based on the survey. The present study focuses on the consistancy of the yield of the leaves of the plant Sesbania grandiflora L. Microscopical characters identify by Rotary microtome technics and proximate analysis is carried out using standard methods. Microscopical characters show the presence of epidermis, anisocytic stomata, phloem, xylem, veins, vein islets, ground tissue &trichomes, glandular trichomes not found in the leaves. The proximate analysis shows Moisture content, Dry mater content, Total ash value, Acid insoluble ash value and Water soluble ash value respectively. Sesbania Grandiflora shows further the presence of Stomatal number is 140/mm2, petiole appears more or less in tetragonal outline with two adaxial thick, short wings like humps. Present study reveals that diagnostic characters help full for identification genuineness which play key role in authentication of plant and used medicinally health care needs of livestock and human beings. Therefore, these diagnostic characters are help full for detecting adulterants, can also serve as active constituents of herbal medicines and useful in the treatment of various diseases in future.

Department of Textile Technology Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, (IITD), India ABSTRACT The focus on environmental concerns is increasingly causing the textile industry to explore natural sources of dyes as opposed to synthetic dyes. As a representative effort in this direction, the current paper describes the process of dyeing silk and cotton-polyester blend with the aqueous extract of Sesbania aculeata plant. This plant is a green manure plant with several traditional applications. Shade cards were prepared and evaluations were made on the basis of two fabrics dyed, five mordants and three different mordanting techniques applied. Fastness properties of the dyed fabrics were tested. For color measurements K/S values and CIE L*a*b* values were calculated. ABUL HASSAN Department of Botany, University of Dhaka, Dhaka-1000, Bangladesh. Abstract The present article focuses the status of angiosperm plant diversity of Nijhum Dweep, a small Island in the Bay of Bengal close to Hatiya channel. From the analysis of the data a total of 152 plant species belonging to 56 families has been recorded. Among the recorded species, tree is represented by 66, shrub by 15, herbs by 58 and 13 by climbers. Of the species recorded from the area 51% species represented by 11 families and 49% represented by 45 families. Fabaceae appears to be largest in the Dicotyledones having 10 species whereas Poaceae is the largest in Monocotyledones having 12 species. Analysis confirmed that 68% of the recorded species found to be medicinal and 32% are used for other than medicinal purposes. Data analysis also showed that homesteads supported maximum plants followed by road side, cultivated land, mangrove and mangrove meadows. Collected data revealed that the occurrence of seven species namely Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Diospyros blancoi, Derris trifoliata, Heliotropium curassavicum, Tamarix gallica, Typha elephentanea and Sarcolobus carinatus in the study area might be rare. Dolichandrone spathacea, a threatened of plant species of Bangladesh, was also found in this mangrove forest area. Through observations and discussion with local people, a number of threats to plant diversity have been identified. Finally, a number of possible conservation measures have been suggested for the management of angiosperm plant diversity of Nijhum Dweep.
