Location

Tsavo East National Park is one of the oldest and largest parks in at 12,000 square kilometres. The park’s area comprises roughly 40% of Kenya’s total area covered by the national parks making it one of the world’s largest biodiversity strongholds. Its popularity is mostly due to the vast amounts of diverse wildlife that can be seen, including the famous ‘big five’ consisting of , rhino, Cape buffalo, elephant and . The park is also home to a great variety of bird life. Other features include the Yatta Plateau and Lugard Falls. The park can be accessed by three main gates, from Voi through the Manyani gate, from Mombasa through the Bachuma gate or from Malindi through the Sala gate. There are also several airstrips in the park that allow chartered light planes.

Description

Sentrim Tsavo is situated within Tsavo East National Park approximately 11 kilometres from Voi gate and 40 kilometres from the Buchuma gate. The lodge has a capacity of 26 fully furnished ensuite luxury tents set in rows overlooking Voi River. It also comprises of a reception, lounge area, swimming pool, staff canteen, kitchen, a restaurant and bar all totalling circa 12,847 sq.ft of built-up area. Each of the tents has a verandah and ensuite bathroom. In addition, there are staff quarter comprising 12 tents and drivers’ quarters comprising of 2 tents.

Water supply is from a sunken well located within the property. The water is pumped to treatment plant having 3 plastic tanks each of 8,000 litres and another plastic tank of 6000 litres. After final treatment, the water is then pumped to the rooms. Power to the property is generated from two 28KVA and 15 KVA backup generators supplemented by solar panels which are used for lighting and heating water whilst drainage is to pit latrines. Other amenities in the lodge include 24 hour electric fence, gift shop / curio shop, swimming pool, jacuzzi and beauty spa.

The tented camp and other buildings are developed near the river leaving the rest of the land undeveloped allowing for possible future expansion if an investor chose to redevelop and undertake a more substantial lodge/ camp.

Tenure

Approximately 21.28 acre leasehold property on Land Reference Number 27743 Tsavo East National Park. The property is held on Lease Agreement dated 15th February 2008 issued under the Registration of Titles Act Cap 281 between and Tarhi Luxury Eco Camps Limited for a term of 20 years with effect from 1st February 2008 subject to a monthly revisable rent of USD 31,618/- payable quarterly. Further to the lease above, there is a transfer of lease dated 2009 between Tarhi Luxury Eco Camps Limited and Sentrim Kenya Limited with the consent of Kenya Wildlife Service and at the expiration of the term the lease shall be renewed for a further term as agreed by the parties.
