This year, final touches to the display case were completed with the addition of a plaque depicting the cane top of the original cane and name plates of past recipients since 1992. Unfortunately there are no records of recipients prior to 1992. I also reached out to Senior Center Director / Out Reach Coordinator, Patrice Rousseau, to help recognize recipients. With the help of the COA Sunshine Club, future recipients will receive an engraved plaque instead of the paper certificate previously presented. He got a land grant #982 of 100 acres in Bledsoe County, TN and was still there in the 1830 cnesus. He had 4 sons and one daughter. Henry Shrum, son of Nicholas Shrum, pioneer to North Carolina. We found Henry Shrum listed in the 1830 census of Bledsoe county, Tenn. on page 270. His age, fifty to sixty years. children; two males, one male age fifteen to twenty, one male age five to ten. Three females, one age fifty to sixty, one age ten to fifteen, one age fifteen to twenty. This man would have been born about 1775. This would put him a little under twenty-one years of age when Nicholas died. He died sometime between 1791 when his will was made and 1793 when it was probated.
