Buy a ticket before you board You need to buy a valid ticket before you get on your train. We know that most of our passengers do this before travelling, and we have a duty to those passengers to make sure no-one travels without paying. This is why we run a penalty fares scheme across most of our network. If you travel without a valid ticket to or from a station within the penalty fares area, you may have to pay a penalty fare of £20 or twice the single fare to the next station your train stops at (whichever is higher). You will also have to buy a ticket for the rest of your journey. We have a policy to, wherever possible, prosecute everyone who deliberately avoids paying. Travel with Confidence If you are travelling with us, please continue to follow the Government’s advice by maintaining social distancing, where possible, and wearing a face covering at our stations and on our trains, unless exempt. For more information about how we’re keeping you safe, and how you can protect yourself and others when travelling visit: southwesternrailway.com/coronavirus Cycles on trains The services in this timetable have limited room for cycles, so we have had to apply some restrictions. The y symbol, with train times printed in blue, shows which trains have restrictions. These restrictions are explained in the ‘Guide to notes and symbols’ section. We will carry folding cycles on any train, as long as they can be folded small enough to be carried safely in the luggage rack. Cycles are not allowed on buses that replace trains during engineering work. Automated Delay Repay We have introduced a new Automated Delay Repay (ADR) system that drastically cuts the time it takes to claim and receive compensation if your train is late. ADR works for all customers who have bought Advance tickets or a Touch Smartcard season ticket from our website. If you have a Touch Smartcard season ticket, you will need to touch in and out at the beginning and end of your journey, sign up for a Delay Repay account at delayrepay.southwesternrailway.com and select ‘Auto Delay Repay’. (The email addresses you use for ‘My Account’ and ‘Delay Repay’ must match.) To find out more about Automated Delay Repay, visit: southwesternrailway.com/contact-and-help/refunds-and- compensation/delay-repay/automated-delay-repay. Changes to train times Network Rail need to do engineering work to maintain and improve the rail network. They do a lot of this work at weekends and during holiday periods, but they also need to do some work overnight during the week. If we need to close rail lines so Network Rail can carry out work, buses will replace train services. We may also have to alter train services over a wider area. Please check for any changes to train times before travelling at weekends, late in the evening or early in the morning. Look for the ‘Changes to train times’ posters at stations, or visit our website at southwesternrailway.com. No-smoking policy For the comfort of all our customers, smoking and using e-cigarettes is not allowed on any part of our trains or stations. You can smoke outside the station entrance or in our car parks. South Western Railway and Community Rail Partnerships We are committed to working with Community Rail Partnerships (CRPs) across our network. CRPs are not-for-profit organisations that help to further connect the railway with the communities they serve. They work closely with SWR to promote healthy and sustainable travel, design projects which bring communities together, as well as support social and economic development. SWR is proud to provide core funding and support to 12 CRPs on our network. Hounslow and Richmond CRP Stations: Barnes Bridge, Kew Bridge, Chiswick, Brentford, Isleworth, Syon Lane, Hounslow, Barnes, Mortlake, North Sheen, Richmond, St Margarets, Twickenham, Whitton and Feltham. This was the first London based CRP and aims to build on community engagement in the area whilst encouraging greater involvement at stations. The Planning Inspectorate National Infrastructure Planning Temple Quay House 2 The Square Bristol BS1 6PN Emailed to: [email protected] FAO Mr Hefin Jones 25 July 2019 Dear Sir/Madam Location: Southampton to London Pipeline Project Proposal: Notification from Esso of acceptance of their DCO application (by the Planning Inspectorate) and deadline for registering as a Interested Party Following the Planning Inspectorate’s acceptance of an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the Southampton to London Pipeline, Runnymede Borough Council requests to be registered as an Interested Party at the Examination. Runnymede Borough Council (RBC) is a host Borough and also landowner affected by the development. Chertsey Meads, a public open space owned by the Council is a key parcel of land required to be used to enable the pipeline to go under the River Thames. Runnymede Borough Council is not a unitary authority and therefore a number of matters, such as Highways, Transport and Archaeology fall within the remit of Surrey County Council (SCC). Esso’s discussions with SCC have not been shared with RBC and therefore RBC are now making enquiries as to SCC’s position. This letter provides a summary of the main aspects of the proposal which RBC is presently in a position to confirm that it agrees and/or disagrees, together with an appropriate explanation, in accordance with the Planning Inspectorate Advice Note 8.3. The response below is an initial response as the Council is currently reviewing the detailed documentation submitted with the DCO application and therefore the Council reserves the right to make further written representations during the examination should it be required.

  • History of Ottershaw Cricket Club Written and Researched by Richard Bowden
History of Ottershaw Cricket Club Written and researched by Richard Bowden Although we cannot, at present, say exactly when the village cricket club began, a later reference suggests that it was probably in the middle 1850s. The first season for which match reports survive is 1869 by when the club appears to have been quite well-established. It was, at that time, captained by the younger William Fletcher, son of the founder of Fletcher’s Nurseries which was to expand across much of Ottershaw between the 1880s and 1920s. As the Surrey press pointed out, the club was fortunate to play its home games in the beautiful surroundings of Ottershaw Park, seat of Sir Edward Colebrooke M.P., who may well have been the club’s President at this stage. By the early 1880s however, the club was playing in Botley’s Park and the club’s presidency had passed to the local vicar, the Rev. Baron Hichens. Hichen was to retain the position for an almost unbroken spell of twenty years. William Fletcher had retired and in the last decade of the century his place was taken by his young nephew, Edmund Fletcher. The years immediately before and after the First World War constituted something of a ‘golden age’ for the local village cricket club. In 1907 the elder of the two Otter boys, Robert, later Major, RE Otter, club captain at the time, succeeded Rev. Percy Phillips as President and, in the following year, G.W. ‘Jocky’ Attfield, yard manager at Fletcher Brothers, took over the duties of club secretary and the list of fixtures expanded considerably.

  • Runnymede Borough Council Election Results 1973-2012
Runnymede Borough Council Election Results 1973-2012 Colin Rallings and Michael Thrasher The Elections Centre Plymouth University The information contained in this report has been obtained from a number of sources. Election results from the immediate post-reorganisation period were painstakingly collected by Alan Willis largely, although not exclusively, from local newspaper reports. From the mid- 1980s onwards the results have been obtained from each local authority by the Elections Centre. The data are stored in a database designed by Lawrence Ware and maintained by Brian Cheal and others at Plymouth University. Despite our best efforts some information remains elusive whilst we accept that some errors are likely to remain. Notice of any mistakes should be sent to [email protected]. The results sequence can be kept up to date by purchasing copies of the annual Local Elections Handbook, details of which can be obtained by contacting the email address above. Front cover: the graph shows the distribution of percentage vote shares over the period covered by the results. The lines reflect the colours traditionally used by the three main parties. The grey line is the share obtained by Independent candidates while the purple line groups together the vote shares for all other parties. Rear cover: the top graph shows the percentage share of council seats for the main parties as well as those won by Independents and other parties. The lines take account of any by- election changes (but not those resulting from elected councillors switching party allegiance) as well as the transfers of seats during the main round of local election.

  • Addlestone Town Centre Strategy
-1- ADDLESTONE TOWN CENTRE STRATEGY 1. Introduction 1.1 The centres of many small towns across the country are having to change in order to maintain their position as the bustling hubs of their local communities. This document has been prepared following consultation to examine how Addlestone town centre can most effectively face the challenges created by changes in society and lifestyles. 1.2 Addlestone is a district centre primarily serving the needs of the local community. As with any town it has certain advantages and diadvantages that affect its commercial success and vitality. Within Surrey, Addlestone does not perform well in comparison with similarly sized towns. It has one of the highest shop vacancy rates and lowest retail rental values of its class of town. 1.3 If Addlestone is to be a lively and viable centre in the future it is important that the need for change is recognised, not just by the Council, but by all those with an interest in the town. It is also important that mechanisms are established to enable the necessary changes to be planned and implemented and ensure that these changes bring the widest possible benefits. This document sets out some of the issues facing Addlestone’s town centre and describes ways in which they can be tackled based on the local situation and on best practise from other small towns. 1.4 There is a need for action to improve the attractiveness and viability of Addlestone town centre. Experience from other small towns shows that where they are successful it is largely due to the implementation of a very broad based strategy that involves not only the local authority, but all the town’s stakeholders.
