EACS NOW A SHOWBIE LIGHTHOUSE PROGRAM DISTRICT Many EACS teachers consider Showbie the most useful and user-friendly app in the district. East Allen County Schools is now a "Showbie Lighthouse Program" district, where our district is an example district on the Showbie website as a case study for districts successful in their use of Showbie and other technology tools. The EACS Technology Department would like to thank the EACS School Board and Dr. Folks for supporting the Blended Learning Initiative over the last 5 years. We would also like to thank Melissa Fiedler, Melissa Czaja, Sean Miller, Jennifer Sholl, Pat McCann, Bill Diehl, Michael Starewich, and Kurt Dager for their work on Showbie in previous years and their willingness to be interviewed by Showbie. Please read the case study, with interviews from Melissa Czaja, Melissa Fiedler, and Keith Madsen: Showbie Case Study can be viewed on the website. It is truly a great honor to work with the great teachers and administrators of EACS! Teachers: you want to begin utilizing Showbie, please contact your Tech Coach, either Sean Miller or Jennifer Sholl. Keith Madsen, ext. 3125 4. ELEARNING APPROVED EACS was approved on April 19 for eLearning on both inclement weather days and district professional development days. The IDOE has relaxed the rules on the previously-titled "Flex" eLearning days where a district provides Professional Development to staff while students participates in eLearning at home. No plans are yet in place for SY 2017-2018 for "Flex" eLearning, no one can predict the weather, but EACS is approved for eLearning for SY 2017- 2018. Keith Madsen, ext. 3125 5. All pre-event bid(s) must be received no later than 4:00 p.m. our time on 05/03/17 at which time the pre-event bidding will close. Buy-it-Now: These items will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis at the Buy-it Now price listed on the following pages. If a Buy-it Now item does not sell for the listed price, it will be added as a regular auction package at the conclusion of the 05/05/17 dinner / auction event as a general auction item. Event (05/05/17) Bids: Bids from individuals who attend the 2017 EACS Educational Foundation fundraiser will be accepted as a silent auction at the event until the auction closes during the 05/05/17 event. Please note, if pre-event bids were received for a package(s), the highest pre-event bid(s) for each package will be listed on the bid sheet of the package at our 05/05 event. Determination of Winning Bid: Near the conclusion of the 05/05 fundraising event, a winner will be determined for each auction package. Because of the new format for our 2017 EACS EF charity auction, there will not be any ties this year on auction items. That is, the winning bidder will be the individual who has the highest bid on the bid sheet. Payment: Bids won at this 05/05/17 fundraiser must be paid by cash, check (made payable to the “East Allen County Schools (EACS) Educational Foundation”) or credit card (at event only). Winning bidders shall pay for item(s) won before leaving the event, unless other arrangements are made with the Foundation’s director. All winning bids must be paid in full prior to receiving/obtaining the item(s) and/or package(s) won by each winning bidder. If the winning bidder has not provided payment in full to the Foundation on or before 2:00 p.m. EST on 05/26/17, then that item / package will be opened to other bidders on the item/package in rank order of the bid amounts placed prior to the close of the auction, when possible. Anyone contacted under this circumstance will have the right to refuse their bid for the item / package and the opportunity to withdraw any / all prior bid(s) since they were not the original high bidder.
